Email vs. snail mail correspondence with clients

I am weighing the pros and cons of using email vs. snail mail when it comes to client communications. I just signed up with constant contact and I am wondering if I should take advaneforum.xxxe of their features and use them for client welcome letters, thank you letters and happy birthday cards. There are lots of pros to that but it does have an element of being a bit impersonal. I know I always enjoy and appreciate receiving "real" mail in my "real" mailbox.

So what do you think? It is faster and cheaper to use email, but I'd like to use the method the clients would prefer. Do you think it really matters to them one way or the other?

I agree with Macalla. I do most correspondence by snail mail.

I agree with Masthera and macalla, too. What you mentioned: birthdays, welcomes, and thank yous, call for a personal touch, and email just doesn't cut it.
I always make sure I have plenty of stamps on hand, various greeting cards, nice stationery, and it just takes a few minutes.

However, I think emails are totally ok with more mundane things. I have a couple clients who know that I check my email everyday, and will change their appts. that way. A little easier than phone eforum.xxx. Oh yeah, I have a client that text messages me, too. Whatever works for them.

Gotta go with the others on this one. I think email is fine for a newsletter or something like that, but "real" mail is the way to go for welcome letters, birthday notes, etc. Plus, as macalla noted, it is so nice (and rare) to get a physical card in the mail anymore- what a great way to stand out!

Here's another for regular mail. I so very rarely read info type newsletters emailed to me. I like reading mags and newsletters, but at my convenience which might be at a stoplight or in a waiting room. I also agree that getting the personal touch of a hand signed card or letter in the real mail goes a long way.

I agree, snail mail. Everyone gets so bombarded with spam, much worse than junkmail!

Email has it's advaneforum.xxxes too, but for the personal touch...

Okay, I said snail mail and I still mean it, and I just signed up with Constant Contact! I am really trying to market my website to its fullest potential and I thought maybe if people have a direct link instead of just "knowing" what it is, because they really don't know, or just never go to it.

I just sent out a "thank you for your business" ecard to 70 people who have come to me, given their email (and consent to receive info) in the past year.

Well good luck.... Snail mail works the best for me. All my clients just say oh Im sorry I deleted it I thought it was just more junk mail or more spam.
