epidural for back pain does it work did anyone un the forum get it im due to get it next week ?need some info

I had an epidural several months ago and have to say found it to provide only very short term relief and didn't remedy the underlying problem which was a disk sticking in the nerves. I've heard it works for some people (solves the issue), gives temporary relief to others (in my case about a week) and for others does nothing. It's not the most pleasant experience in the world but may be worth a shot though I know others on the forum think it's a waste of time as doesn't address the underlying issue.

i know it does,ent sort the real promble but doctors tell me the epidural will allow my physo to be able to work on my back without causeing to much pain ? i havent sat down without pain in two years i have two bulging disks anda hole lot of other things ?

A relative had a similar procedure done about 18 months ago, with little effect. He has since had a 'vertebral fusion' , and is able to walk and sit virtually pain free. He does find that he cannot sit for long periods, but his main relief is that he does not have to take massive doses of medication to try and kill the pain - he found this worse than anything, plus the accompanying constipation caused by the meds.

I had an epidural and as the previous thread mentioned it only gave short term relief. The Co-dydramol I use is no longer working and I get constipation ( well I don't coz I eat prunes, figs etc.. in abundance to stave off the effects ).

I am going through a bad patch at the moment and am looking at Acupuncture and Shiatsu .. anything to avoid surgery ! I will post anything that I think will be of use. By the way the epidural is painless and you have a local anisthetic so don't worry about it.
