First off, I want to preface my impressions with the fact that my impressions are just that...mine. I've only taken module I and have intentions on following through with the rest at a later time.
Yes, I did find the class to be of high quality (techniques, instructor, class environment in & out of the barn, materials and other teaching aides). I also found it to be structured, yet comfortably casual...with most learning styles addressed. The classes are usually small, too...there were 5 of us, if I'm remembering correctly.
I felt as though I could have bypassed module I and started with module II because I've been to human massage school (along with having 7 years of experience in the field, as well as Reiki & Polarity training). This course is set up for beginners, as well as the experienced. I've made myself clear with them, post-class, in that regard. I felt myself to be at a different learning & experience level and see that it takes great skill to acommodate those differing levels.
With regard to the expense, I agree it is a big financial commitment and investment. I still struggle with this one, again because I've already paid out approx $10,000 for my initial massage education...aside from continuing education...and don't desire to pay for a repeat education. The cost of travel & lodging, the loss of money from not working during each week of training also add up to quite a bit.
I came away with something that I completely did not expect...HUGE confidence in what I was already doing and there's no amount of money in the world that could have bought that...its value is immeasurable to me. My massage strokes are very similar to the techniques being taught in this course. It also left me with a question to ponder: where does massage start and myofascial work end, and vice versa?
Yes, I do utilize the techniques taught. More than doing just a myofascial session, I combine the techniques with my own.
Anyway, I hope there's some helpful nuggets in all of that. Thanks for your patience...it took me long enough to get back here with a proper reply!
