Be careful with Eros. Recent reports (mine included) say that they try to jack up the price. We were quoted $60.

I've been to Idem more times than to any other mp and have yet to session. Not because I didn't want to, just circumstances (time) wouldn't allow it. The last time, we got there too late (around 11:15pm), the girls were gone for the night. As far as Idem goes, I suggest you invite the chica to sit with you to talk (or for a drink) first, so you can get a good look at her (lighting there sucks) and gauge her personality/attitude.

Idem is great and I would say anytime between 6PM and 10PM is usually good. Tell Roberto what you want and he will point you to the right chica.

Eros is not even worth mentioning, the place is dirty and the chicas are 5's at best

Re Eros: I recall one report by a newbie who was paying above standard rates all over the gulch http://www.costaricaticas.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=7848&highlight=eros. They pay taxistas commissions for bringing gringos there, so if you come in a cab they may try to pass it off to you and charge significantly more. Has anyone heard reports of them trying to charge $60 to anyone who didn't go there in a cab? If you directed the cabbie there, I'd tell them that and insist on the regular price or, better yet, tell the taxista to take you to IDEM or Tin Jo and just walk to Eros (its directly across the street from IDEM). If for any reason they still try to stick you for inflated rates, tell THEM where to stick it. I don't think their volume of business is so great that they're going to turn away a gringo customer just because he isn't so stupid as to pay $60.

As to chica quality, from what I've seen it does tend to run in the 5-6 range at best as Mas Chicas suggests, BUT you never know. I usually poke my head in there whenever I go to IDEM just to see what is around. I only sessioned there once a few years ago, but the last time I was there I saw a few chicas that were much nicer than usual and I was tempted (decided to check out IDEM first and ended up not going back to Eros). Again, like I said before, don't write it off as you never know and you might catch it with a rare treat. BTW, Zebra reported having a good session there recently.

As for IDEM: I prefer IDEM because of the Bar atmosphere where you can take your time making a selection. I always feel pressured to decide at Eros (just some vaguely uncomfortable feeling when I walk in there) which might also have something to do with why I usually don't stick around there for more than 30 seconds. I would concur with 4Reel as to the best times to go 5:30-7:00PM to get there after all the girls have arrived but while they are still fresh and between 10:30-11PM so you will have a full hour before they close at midnight sharp. IF you get there at 11:15PM like Orange did, you best bet may be to hit the girls up for numbers or some moonlighting work back at your hotel.

Pro is exactly right. We asked to go to Idem and the female cabbie we grabbed at SL strongly suggested Eros. She said it's cheaper and more girls. Wrong on both counts! 3 girls, 1 was smokin hot. Lucky we left cause afterwards dcdweller told me that we would be fightin for one chica, damn she was hot! We were quoted $60 and instantaneously walked out. The cabbie was at the window still collecting her commission as we were walking out. I don't know if she ever got it.

What you should have done was act like you were walking into IDEM until the cabbie left and then crossed over the street to check out the selection or walk into IDEM, wait until your friend made his selection and then told him as he was walking upstairs that you were going back across the street for the smokin hot chica and would meet him back at the bar in an hour. I'm positive they would have gone down in price after the cabbie left.

CRgrindo...I think what is being suggested here is go to IDEM first (have cabbie drop you there), then saunter across the street and peek in Eros. Normally the price should be $40-50 per hour. I stopped in with some guys a few weeks back and we were quoted $45. There were 5 girls and 3 out of 5 were quite doable in my opinion...and I think I'm picky. There tend to be some younger, thin girls that work there than at IDEM. I had my first San Jose session there years ago...and still have fond memories of it :wink: ...

Tman, usually what I do is I stay at a hostal in San Pedro, take the bus and walk to the massage parlors. Eros is the first one to come and Idem comes second. I have not gone to these places yet. I went to the beach. I had a lot of fun.

$60 is completely rediculous! I don't even want to bother with a place that is going to quote me a price like that even if I can negotiate a lower price. IMHO I believe CRT members should boycott any and all places that treat gringos or anybody else in that manner.

I went to Zona Blue twice a day on my vacation at $36/session. The chicas literally demanded for me to session with them. I had no problem with this and was actually flattered by it. Zona Blue treated me so good that I didn't see any point in going anywhere else. The girls even have a special bond at Zona Blue that I didn't find at any other places.

Yeah, Orange and I walked the Phuck out of Eros when they quoted $60. It was insulting. I won't be back, because when I'm in CR I want to be the one doing the phucking. I would plan to be at Idem no later than 10:00, but earlier definitely would be better if you want to ensure a decent selection.

Any information I have on Eros is pretty old. I recall paying $40 every time I went several years ago. The selection varied from 5 girls to as many as 10 or more. Most of the girls where pretty hot. Then a few years back they started pulling that $60 crap. I didn't take a cab and had walked there from the presedente. I think I tried that twice in a row and have never been back again.

The Idem closes at midnight and I have been tossed out before even getting a girl on some visits. This last trip I picked up a girl around 11:15 and there was some discussion on the time. When I offered to take her back to the Presedente I guess the owner said it was o.k. to stay past 12 to finish. The best time is probably the 7-10 range.

I hear where you're coming from. I resent it when I get the feeling I'm being treated like a gullible newbie than can be conned and taken advantage of. However, if I were to start boycotting places where I thought I got treated that way, I wouldn't be able to go to half the places in SJ.

The indy bar-girls at the HDR/BM routinely ask $100 (or $40 more than the highest rate at Eros), so I guess visiting that place is out too. The strip joints often play all sorts of games to maximize the money they get out of you, so I guess all those places are out too. ZB, your personal favorite, plays it pretty straight but since they charge nearly twice as much as the tico MP's they really don't need to play any games.

The way I play it, I probably wouldn't head that way just for Eros, given their practices, usual selection and the fact that there are much better places around. But IF I'm going to IDEM anyway, Eros is no more than 30-40 feet away so why not take a look and see what they've got. Most times in the last few years there wasn't anything that struck as so great to overcome my discomfort with their marketing practices. I walk out and essentially support your "boycott". Sometimes, I've been tempted. But even if I did give them some business, I know enough that it would be on MY terms not theirs so how is that supporting or condoning what they pull on others. Caveat Emptor.

I actually applaud the HDR/BM girls for standing together and asking for $100. It shows a professionalism and intellect.

I love what CRT has done with Zona Blue and the discount of only $36 for a 1 hour session. I believe that ZB is a higher standard of quality than the tico MP's and worth the extra money. In comparing $36 to ZB and $60 for Eros I believe there is no comparison.

Now to my point. I believe that we should do exactly what the HDR/BM girls do and put the pressure on these places to have consistant, fair & competitive pricing. There are sufficient resources for CRT as a group to be able to do this and it could provide a more enjoyable and profitable experience for both the mongers and the providers. Again, this is just my opinion, but I will be pushing more for this on this board and also writing more posts advocating it.
