I'm heading back to Tokyo after a couple of years away...

Previously I discovered escorts in a couple of "normal" bars and after some discussion got them back to the hotel for similar prices to the escort agency stuff...

Back then it was Motown (the one downstairs) and 911 where you could find girls... Usually European/Thai rather than Japanese sadly.

Is that scene still in those bars or are there other bars that people recommend? (I'm a big fan of the "take-out" approach as my friends call it!)

Ah, things have changed since the economy changed. There are still plenty of girls to go around however. You can get a decent girl with a few drinks.

Beware of the girls there that are working for the bar, just to get you to keep buying drinks. They will leave you high and dry with a high bar tab!

I'm back from Tokyo so thought it'd be good to share my experience/intel...

I finally escaped my work colleagues around midnight on the Friday night and headed for Rappongi. My first stop was the Motown bar that is upstairs. Very busy. A quick walk of the length of it and it was clear there were several working girls (in groups of girls and keen to make eye contact). I'm convinced some were lady-boys so don't try this when you are too drunk!

I selected a beautiful girl who turned out to be filipino. She was with another girl and was happy to get picked up. They took me to another bar - not very busy, loud tecno music and drinks were double price of Motown. I though that I may be being scammed (bar giving them a cut of the drink price or something) so I said I wanted to head back to hotel.

They didn't want to split up and the friend looked doable so I negotiated for both and grabbed a cab back to the hotel.

Fantastic time had by all - It was a great way to spend my last 2 hours before heading to the airport at 7am...

Anyone interested in this kind of thing should also check out the bar at the Park Hyatt Hotel in Roppongi. I believe it's on the 6th floor, or somewhere around there, but there are working girls there too. I've been in there a few times and there were definitely some girls waiting to picked up. I'm not terribly good at figuring out there origin, but I've seen Asian and European types there.

The name of the bar is "The Oak Door Bar".

Motown II is THE place to pick up freelance girls in Roppongi. It is dead early in the week, but from Weds onwards it gets very busy, and Friday nights are often so crowded that its hard to walk the length of the bar. Not sure why this has become the premier place for this kind of action, must be some kind of management policy encouraging it. All sorts of girls, from Japanese girls looking to get laid (free, ugly) to foreign amateurs and pros. The later you go there, the more the choice, as the girls come out of hostess bars after the trains stop, and call at Motown to score for the night. There are a lot of regulars and depending on the night, many "drifters" from all over the world.

Yes, there are a lot of ladyboys there. There has always been a scene of Pilippina trans-sexuals at Motown. Most are pre-op, most are spectacularly built, and if you like that sort of thing (I do) its a great place to go. If you are anti (and I'm not interested in your comments about my own preferences, thanks) then please be careful, there are a couple of post-op "girls" who are absolutely convincing and rather less than scrupulous about full disclosure...

911 - I try here when Motown is busy, and its pretty hit and miss. I've had some great experiences, picking up young and nubile girls, friendly, happy to come back to my hotel and spend the night (after trains have stopped) for JPY20,000. On the other hand I've been skillfully worked for drinks all night and then the girl disappears while I'm in the toilet... you wouldn't have thought it worth all the work on her behalf for a few drinks! Much more a freelance / amateur place, with lots of non-P4P girls mixed in with the pros. Fun if you have lots of time, like to flirt / work a bit for your conquests, and you can come away with freebie winners occasionally - but if you are after walk-in walk-out Motown II is a better bet.

Other bars - Wall Street II is an empty shadow of the original WS Bar. The Irish bar across the road can occasionally be fun, and is a good place to play pool (reserve a room for JPY2,000/hr) and scope out the talent. There are lots of other bars, but none that I've reliably enjoyed, let alone scored in.
