Evaluation time! YIKES!

Dear folks,
It is evaluation time at the Wellness Center of our local hospital. I am the first MT they have had on staff, and they don't have an evaluation form. I've already waited over 6 months to have a performance review because there is no form, and since raises are tied to performance review, I am stuck. I was thinking of modifying and using the form each client at the free clinic our school used, but that was for evaluations by clients.

Does anyone have a job description and evaluation form they'd be willing to share?

I also need to figure out how to get salary range comparisons. HELP! This is information folks don't usually share, and I don't know how to go about finding it. Any ideas?

Linda, I don't have an evaluation form and my suggestion might be out of line here...but...why not create your own eval form based on what you would like to see your job description be?

Do you know what criteria they evaluate on? Excellence in work? Being on time? Is there a volume of sales expected? Volume of repeat clients? Continued education? Are you expected to do your own marketing? Getting along with your peers? Getting along with management?

Is it possible to get a copy of the eval form they use for other positions so you can see what the layout is? Do you know what the average pay raise is? This is important info to have in order to provide the best eval form for what you do.

Just my thoughts but rather than try to fit your triangular peg into their square hole why not turn this to your advaneforum.xxxe and create a form that turns their square hole into one that fits your triangle peg?

I work within a hospital setting and I have an evaluation form but it's generic in nature. I would suggest getting their evaluation form and adapting it writing it to fit the massage therapist protocols, as well as any specific hospital mission statements.

Thanks to lovely day and Intuitouch for your replies. I will get the mission statements and come up with something that works. Thanks for the input. I do appreciate the ideas.

Today and tomorrow are chair massage events at a large local employer so I'll be out of the office --- command performance --- so I'll need to remember that element in the evaluation as well.

Don't forget this IS the time to blow your horn, if you will. You should have been documenting everything you did to set up, put in place, trouble shoot, write policies or procedures on massage modalities, increase sales, increase client base etc. Always do this once a month as it's so hard to remember what you did in a year, and save it in a document and always add to it. When next year's eval. rolls around, you'll have everything you did in front of you. Also, if something you did, caused a direct increase in profit for your hospital, put it down but you must be specific.Example: Client {name}came to see me on {date}. She did not have an appt. but thought she did. I had clients booked all day so I could not see her but I offered her my 30 min. break time for a quick massage instead of the 60 she gets. She was very grateful and the following week she purchased a massage pkg. to take her through the rest of the year in gratitude. that resulted in a sale of $1120.00 for that day It shows your willingness to go above what's needed to satisfy a client and it shows the return you provided for your place of business. That results in a great eval. and raise!! PS: Example provided was exactly what happened to me!

Well, it's only been three or four days since your post and to be honest I just read this today... so TRY not to get your panties in a bunch! t119 You gotta give people a chance ya know!

I can try to pull out some old boxes from when I used to teach, that are in storage right now, but that may take at least a few weeks.

Thanks, lovely day, for the examples you gave..... I have been keeping good stats but not the type of accomodations I make for folks. That's a great idea, and I'll add that type of narrative to my monthly notes. Can you tell me what packages you offer? I still don't have approval for that here, and would like to.

Off to do yet another Health Fair for a large local employer again this morning. I'll set up the chair and do freebies and educate folks about MT. Good opportunity!

Hi, We offer employees 10% discount on massages and we offer general public 10% savings if they purchase a package of 30,45,60,75 or 90 min. massages. Packages are sold in groups of 4. They are always available and many people take advaneforum.xxxe of it because they may have that amount of money available at certain times of year or they also like to pay once and know they can come 3 or more times{depending on pkg.} and not have to worry about paying! We do not accept tips as many hospital based programs do not and we promote that fact!

Going back to your eval. examples, just make sure the things you put down show A) service you did, B) how client benefited and C) how it benefited the hospital. It's best not to be too lengthy with each example. Be concise and professional. Good luck! Any other questions, fire away!

One of the things I meant to add when mentioning about finding out what the standard raises are is so you can create a form that truly blows your own horn (love that phrase) and leaves little doubt that you should get at least the standard raise and then some.

I finally got a chance to get into my old boxes, but don't have an eval form anywhere.

I am very sorry.

However, I did notice, if you google "Job evaluation form" you can get a number of samples that you may be able to fit into a massage therapy position.

This is a general one for someone intereviewing a candidate for a job (which I know isn't the same thing). Maybe you can use some lingo when preparing yours.
