Here are some suggestions that I have found to work in an event type environment.
1. Use a brochure with your menu of services included along with pricing and package information. Be sure to highlight only one service as your "main attraction" or specialty as people are overwhelmed by choices, especially at events. Make sure that your benefit conveys that it is something that is
important and is
believable to your potential customers.
2. In your descriptions of your services, highlight the primary benefits of services and use the features to describe the benefits. Make sure that you draw attention to what makes you unique to answer the customer's "why should I buy from you?" question – better than anyone else offer related or like services - which is extremely important at an event such as this that you are attending.
Be creative in presenting your uniqueness; thus creating a theme for your booth that capitalizes on your “main attraction” or specialty. This will help make your services
memorable in their minds. (And, will give them something to remember after they have left the event.)
For example, I’ve used a clear stand with a flyer on “In Pain” along with a picture of a man rubbing the back of his neck in obvious discomfort. The flier had a bulleted listing of how my services will help remove this “man’s” pain. Most everything that I had presented in my booth carried this ideal along including products that people could use in self-massage.
3. People are naturally wary of services untried; therefore, try a combination approach of having examples / samples of what you do (such as the pix idea) and a discount for those that had attended the event, such as a coupon.
On approach is to get a glass fish bowl for people to put in their business cards or contact information and do a drawing for a free service. Retain the potential customer information to use in other marketing efforts which will save you time in locating people that are inclined to towards these types of services, but offer an “opt” out. You can offer discount coupons for other attendees of the event for those that did not get the free service.
People LOVE to get something
free at events like these, especially pens, candy, and neat looking "dollar store" type stuff.
(Funny story, one man even had come up to my booth and took a couple of my pens since he was a pen collector. Didn't have my business name on them so he just took cheap dollar store pens...Was ready for him (and those like him) at the next event ~ pens with my business name and number on them...
)
Most of all, have fun networking with everyone ~ especially other booth owners. Your energy and excitement will attract people to your booth.
Don't forget to come back and let us know how it went for you!
