Face Cradle velcro failing

Hello,

I have an Oakworks table. The velcro is failing. I have already taken the velcro off of one side of the cradle and replaced it with the barely used velcro from the other side.

But the worst of it is the soft side of the velcro that is on the bottom side of the face cradle doesnt want to stick very well any longer. It is worst at the top of the bottom of the cradle. That part doesnt stick at all. The sides arent that bad, but I can tell they arent what they used to be.

I have never used anything with velcro as much as I have the face cradle of a massage table. Is this normal??? I have never had anything velcro wear out on me in the past.
I have had the table for over 2 years now and in the last year, it has seen some pretty heavy usage. I often take the cradle and place it under clients necks, but even without doing that, it gets taken off regularily just due to repositioning.

I was thinking of getting the boiance face cradle, because of this more than ever!! What can I do about my face cradle?? Sew more velcro onto it?? Replace it totally?? I would think the face cradle would last longer than 2 years!!

Any advice??

Is is possible for you to get a replacement from Oakworks under a warranty?

I am not familiar with their warranty, but it might be covered.

Yeah, I thought of that too. But.... I got the table when I was in school as part of my grant and I didnt think about saving the paperwork when I got my table. I dont know if they will help me if I dont have the reciept.

Wouldnt hurt to try tho.

i'm not sure i'm visualizing this good enough 'cause i'm confused. where is the velcro on the face cradle? the bottom? you actually use the velcro? i'm trying to visualize my table and i know there is velcro on the cushion and also on the frame part but i've never actually made sure the two actually connect. my face cradle cushion just stays on the frame itself without needing the velcro.

i actually have the boiance. i like it. i tried to switch back (recently) to the memory foam 'cause i started thinking there wasn't much of a difference. well, i was wrong. there really is a difference.

good luck. i don't know if you saw in another post but i'm coming to WI in a few weeks. maybe we could somehow plan a meetup or i could come and get a massage from you! can't remember where you are at though. i think i'll go look it up on a map. i'll be all over the place and thought it might be nice to try to meet up with some of you guys over there in the dairy state!

I just saw your post.

The soft part of the velcro is on the bottom of the face cradle cussion. It is a very wide strip of velcro and is sewn right on to the cussion. The scratch part of the velcro has a sticky back, is narrower, and stuck to the adjustable bar of the cradle.

This past monday, I bought new velcro at hobby lobby. I took off the sticky scratch stuff from the bar and replaced it with the new sticky scratch velcro. I didnt put a piece on the top bar. I just doesnt stick well. I even trimmed up the fuzzy part that it is supposed to connect to on the cussion. That part of the cussion is different from the sides. It is actually more like felt than soft velcro. So, I figured it was a lost cause. I put extra scratch velcro over the first joint of the bar part closest to the table for extra stability and it seems to be working just fine.

I too want to get that boiance face cradle. I have heard lots of good things about it.

Speaking of face cradles, my mom has made covers for me in the past. I have told her repeatedly that I need more, but she is too busy. There is no way that I am paying for them when my mom can make them so cheaply (whenever she gets the time!!) So in the mean while (and perhaps forever if this works for me!!) I have bought some flannel material and have cut some flat face cradle covers with a pinking shears. I will be trying them out today for the first time.

Hi,
If it the velcro that is on the wooden part, just buy some new nonsticky velcro and hot glue it on top of the other, it works great. If you want, just shave off the old fuzzy stuff so that it sits as close to the wood as possible. Use the very hot glue, not the low temp stuff, it comes undone too easily. If you don't want to use hot glue, you can go to Home Depot or Lowes and ask for permanent cement that works on material. They should have it back in the carpets or apolstery stuff.

So far, the adhesive velcro I applied is working great. And, it only cost $1 at my local craft store. There were two types of adhesive velcro, the regular kind (the kind I bought) and a super heavy duty adhesive velcro. The type I bought seems similar to the original that was on my face cradle. The super heavy duty adhesive stuff was more than twice the price for half the amount, so I figured I would go the less expencive option first.

My face cradle bars are plastic and not wood. Perhaps if mine were wood I would opt for the super heavy duty or a hot glue because the wood would have absorbed some of the oil... but being plastic, this wouldnt happen.
