Face Masks?

I am a treatment massage therapist and have no experience doing spa treatments. My wife is interested in getting a face mask and wanted to know if I had access to any “good ones”?

So I am putting this out there to all you Spa LMP’s! I have no experience with these so it can’t be complicated, and I am not interested in spending a great deal of money. Are there any lines of product people would recommend more than others? And where is a good place to get them (if there is one other than MW)?

Good Face Masks

There are many good face masks out there but it depends on the skin type. There are some even good receipes to make your own. What skin type is she?

Oily? Combination? Dry?

I think she has oily skin, but not too bad, but I do know she has said she has sensative skin. So maybe more of a combo skin. I think she wants it mostly to help with her achne. I know she would really be skeptical if I said "Hey honey I found this GREAT recipe off the internet, I am going to make it up and put it on your face." So of I could find an over the counter one I think I would have a little more luck with her trying it.

Jan Marini is a product line that I have had good experience with. I have skin that can get oily and very acne prone. I really like her skin zyme mask and use clean zyme in conjunction with it. You will have to find a spa or dermatologist that sells it. She should be aware that with starting a new skin care regime she may have some purging in which her skin will get worse before it gets better.

universal companies has some wonderful masks, and you can pick out one to fit the skin type.

I've been giving myself facials since I was 17 (won't tell you how old I am now! )

I bought a Merlot mask at GNC store. The company name is Merlot USA and it is a clay mask with grape extract. It was not expensive. Really good for oily/combination skin.

I also like DHC mud mask but it was more expensive, I think on their web site it's $35. I also tried Kur mud mask from the massage Warehouse catalog.

I remove all mud masks with a washcloth soaked in hot water so I get some exfoliation as well.

Home made mask I recommend. Pour very hot water over oats (Quaker works fine) so it forms a paste, let it cool and apply to skin. When it's dry, wash off. Again, you will get the tightening effect plus exfoliation, and it costs pennies.

With all the above masks, avoid the eye area.

I always put frsh fruit and berries on my face, when they are in season. I remove them with an ice cube - massage the face until the mask is goine.

I am from Europe and that's what women do over there.


I am not an estetitician, I just really enjoy skin care and I have been doing facials on myself and I did them on my mom and friends.
