face massage on ihm chair

Hi i used a normal chair for ihm but now have a lovely portable ihm chair which is fantastic for the back, neck scalp etc but doesnt seem very comfortable if you turn the client around (so they're facing outwards).
What does everyone else do?
I've tried a pillow in a variety of places but nothing seems to work too well.
Any one else had this problem?

I don't turn them around, I just sit them up and do the face acupressure massage with my hands on their face feeling through the contours of their face. I did use a pillow to support their head but find that the pillow slips down which is frustrating. I've only had the IHM chair for a week so it would be interesting to hear other views.

I know alot of you wont be able to do this as your mobile, I have problems standin because of OA, but as I love giving IHM I start them on my chair and when ready for the face I move them to my massage table, cover them, and really go to town on the facial massage, firstly because I feel a bit guilty having disturbed them. Thank goodness everyone has loved it, and not minded moving

I thought there may not be an easy answer!
I don't fancy moving someone to a table but really I suppose its not too different from moving them on the chair.
My experiments with a pillow showed that i couldnt find a comfortable position with proper support for my back and i suppose i was hoping someone would tell me i was missing some obvious position!

Hi there we were taught to sit them up but instead of a pillow (which I hadn't thought of - good idea) I roll up a towel and place it behind their neck. I then ask them to lean back against me. This seems to work quite well. If they don't lean back - sometimes people are so relaxed by the end of the treatment that their heads hand forwards, I just feel my way around their face! It seems to work that way quite well!

I do the same as bexx using either a rolled/folded towel or a small cushion which works very well, not had any complaints, clients say they do feel comfy

sorry to be so dim - do you mean just sitting up with a towel for support or turning client around so the sit up facing outwards?

thats ok

I have the client lean back onto a rolled towel and my chest - it might sound a bit uncomfortable but have tried it myself and it is fine
