Hey dudes. My first trip is coming up and I'm a little confused on some things. Do ticas care if you spray on them? What about facials? Do I need to bring this stuff up during negotiations? I'll be there on the 8th. Thanks for any info you can provide.

Negotiate EVERYTHING up front. Don't worry about offending them. There's nothing that you can say to them that they haven't already heard, at one time or another. But, in the interest of a good session (with no surprises), tell them everything that you'd like to do. Ya never know. You might be surprised. She might even give YOU a propina for a facial!

Thanks y'all. I have another question. I am thinking on renting a car and driving to the caribbean. Any suggestions whether this is a good idea or not. I really hate the bus, in any city. I found a good deal through yahoo travel for 13USD a day, unlimited mileage. Has anyone driven it yet. I hear the roads are pretty shitty in some places and there aren't many street signs.

$13? Highly unlikely. Or maybe it's some 3 cylinder piece of junk. Hope you don't have any bags. : We were supposed to get a good deal too. Ended up paying double after all the taxes and crazy upcharges. Plus, we had to leave $950 deposit in case of an accident, they keep it as deductible, and they cover the rest.

My advice is DON'T rent a car in CR. It's more hassle than it's worth.

Consider yourself fortunate. The normal deposit requirement from the major rental car companies in Costa Rica is from $1500.00 to $2000.00. The put a hold on your credit card for that amount and do not release it until you return the car and they inspect it for damage.

True oramge is right they can be a hassle but I have always rented a car, I love it and wouldnt want to see Costa rica any other way. Now if i was just going to hang in SJ for the girls i would never rent one however they are a must for me. Here is some prices:
