I was surprised to find there wasn’t more information about Tijuana here. I’m saddened to see how many stereotypes are reinforced here and how much incorrect and/or misleading information is contained in some posts. Hence my post.
Tijuana is one of the best cities in the world for mongers. It isn't necessary to speak Spanish and dollars are accepted everywhere. (If you, like I, speak fluent Spanish you will, of course, find that it adds an extra dimension to what you can do in TJ.) While it is nice to speak Spanish it isn't necessary to have a great time. Waiters, cab drivers, hotel clerks, etc. all speak enough English you won’t have any problem in TJ.
Tijuana is a safe city (far safer than the core city in most major US metropolitan areas) and mongers seldom experience serious problems with either muggers or cops—urban myths notwithstanding. A little common sense and “man of the world” experience go a long way in TJ. If you don’t do things like stumble around drunk, break the law (especially drug laws), urinate in public, or disrespect the locals you’ll be fine.
Tijuana is also a fun city, with things to do and places to go. Besides being a monger’s destination it has five-star hotels and restaurants, a cultural center, symphonic concerts, art exhibits, an omni-max theater, first run movies (in English) and it is the gateway to some great beaches and destinations in Baja. There is a real city outside the red light district that I enjoy. Although I live in So-Cal, I maintain an apartment in Tijuana and spend 1-3 days there most weeks enjoying myself.
Mongering “action” can be obtained from a variety of providers in Tijuana: bar girls, street girls, massage parlor girls, and Internet escorts. “Action” can sometimes be obtained in the strip clubs depending on the club, the girl, and a host of other factors.
Bar girls are probably the best choice for "newbies" who want to monger in Tijuana. A yellow cab will, for $5.00, take you from the border to any of the numerous bars in the Zona Norte, a fairly small area filled with numerous bars and street girls. Adelitas and Chicago Club are popular with “newbies.” Ask any cab driver to take you to Adelitas, which is in the heart of the Zona Norte, and is open from about 10am to 6am. The “going rate” for a bar girl is $60.00 for 30 minutes, although better deals are frequently negotiated. The girl will take you to a hotel next to the bar where she works. The short-term rate is $11.00+ with a buck tip for the towel boy. Negotiate for all the services you want before going to the room. A GFE isn’t hard to find, especially from girls in some of the lesser known bars. Mongers seeking longer session will probably enjoy a TLN—toda la noche or overnighter—which can usually be obtained for $200.00 or less. For longer sessions I recommend using a “love hotel” such as La Mansion or El Parador; the rates are $33.00+.
Street girls usually go for about $20.00+ with a $5.00+ charge for a room. The service is quick (15 minutes) and usually very mechanical. A GFE is rare. Before going upstairs, negotiate everything you want from a street girl in advance as they are famous for rushing sessions and upcharging. (Hence I recommend bar girls for “newbies.”) They stand on Constitution and in the “Alley” (among other places) in the Zona Norte. You can’t miss them as they literally line the side walks.
Massage Parlors are located throughout the city, which makes giving locations here difficult. Many are on Revolucion while others are in the Zona Norte and other parts of the city. The standard rate is $40.00 to the house for an entrance fee plus whatever you negotiate--most frequently in the room--with the girl for full service. (Often $100.00.) Sessions go a full hour, but a GFE is hard to find.
The Internet escort scene is changing rapidly and significantly as I write this. It used to be the going rate was $150.00 for the first hour and $100.00 for each subsequent hour. A GFE used to be almost a given. At present a growing number of girls and agencies are using the Internet to promote themselves. Prices are dropping; I’ve seen things as low as $200.00 for three hours. However, quality is also on the decline and a GFE is no longer a sure deal. Internet escorts are well suited to the less adventurerous souls who wish to visit Tijuana. The escort (who usually speaks a little English) greets the monger literally as he crosses the boarder. She takes him by cab or in her own car to either a short-term 5-star hotel or a private apartment near the border. (Total cost under $50.00.) After the session she returns the monger to the border. (Neither I nor any TJ vet that I know have every received a report of either a cab driver or escort mugging a monger. How many other cities can say that?)
There are also bars and MPs in outlying areas of the city, “hidden” massage parlors, hotels with “room service,” and classified ads in the newspapers that all add zest to Tijuana. Plus it is easy to meet and date locals in TJ. But information about these things is better suited to TJ vets than “newbies” so I’m intentionally omitting them—much as they add to my “quality of life.”
I suggest those interested in current and comprehensive information about mongering in Tijuana visit a free site at
http://www.tjamigos.com (on which, I should disclose, I am a very active participant). TJ Amigos contains reviews of virtually all the clubs, massage parlors, strip clubs, etc. in Tijuana. It also contains travel and safety tips, plus information about individual chicas, bars, massage parlors, hotels, restaurants, taxis, etc. that can help make a visit more productive and enjoyable.
