first hello, then please help?...reflexology courses

Hello and thank you to all the people that contribute to these forums....

I've spent many a late night before my A&P looking at question ....you all so graciously posted..................I got my long awaited results for ITEC ap and holistic massage ... I got a credit so happy

...The question..... I want to do Reflexology and Morley college offer a course in the afternoon which is perfect for me as i work mornings cant do late evening but its not ITEC it says it is a professional qualification when you take IEB exam then you can become a member of the IFR. is this as good as ITEC... any clarification would be helpful

Well done in your massage. I've done a couple of the IFR's CPD courses at Morley College and met one of the tutors who teaches the 'undergraduate' courses. I must say I was impressed in the short time I got to know her. I also met IFR graduates and they all seemed knowledgeable, capable and happy with the training they had received. There are various courses you can take to become a Reflexologist and each has its own merits - certainly I don't think any is head and shoulders above the others. The IFR is a reputable organisation and I'm impressed with their CPD (continuing professional development) courses. I'm sure they would be happy to answer any questions you have about the course.

Hi Girlmogli,

My wife and I qualified with the IFR. They are a very good organisation and the qualification is, in our opinion, better than ITEC.

The IFR is an international oprganisation and recognised world wide.

As Siobhan says, their CPD courses are excellent.

I have nothing to say about the IFR as far as I am concerned they are good, but I think we have discussed many times that it is not so much the qualification but the tutors involved? I was happy with my ITEC course and to be honest I have had treatments off AOR and IFR therapists and I can't say they were that great. Horses for courses eh?

I have just taken on a VTCT therapist who did a one year course and just qualififed. She only did 4 reflexology case studies and I was not sure about it at all. However I gave her the benefit of the doubt as she was so lovely and she gave me the best reflexology treatment I have ever had. I snapped her up and she is working at the Centre now and I am very happy to pass on new and existing clients to her (and I don't do that lightly as I have seen many new clients disappear into a black hole after treatments with therapists who don't cut it).

It taught me a lesson. I won't judge again.

Just missed a bit. It isn't just the tutor, it is mainly the therapist. It takes more than being taught to be a good therapist, this involves lots of aspects including good technique, a good knowledge of a and p, a good personality, understanding and compassion for others, a love of learning, a lack of fear, the desire to give, the love of the job, the ability to stick with it despite not having any clients and the absolute certainty that you have chosen the right path.....amongst other things!

Oh and the realisation that you will never be rich in money but that doesn't matter too much!

Thank you all for your kind response's I shall take your advice and check out the tutors.... Also I'm glad to hear IFR is well recieved... I just didnt know anything about the various bodies as there seems to be a few... ITEC being the only one I have used.... thanks again
