BURRILLVILLE – The public is invited to try out free classes in meditation, breathe works, yoga and more, during a series to be offered on Mother’s Day weekend at Solitude Massage Therapy & Wellness Center.
The classes will be held in a space dubbed ‘The Loft’ on the second floor of the business at 979 East Ave. first opened last February. Owner Tina Breault-Cardon has been hard at work since, finding instructors to lead an array of holistic offerings in the custom-built 2,500-square-foot space.
The new class additions, she says, have brought her business to the next level, with a complete program of wellness services that aim to foster growth and well-being in the community.
“I truly love everything we offer,” said Breault-Cardon. “What I’m most proud of is how much we’ve grown into a true sanctuary of wellness for both mind and body. Our incredible team of caring, intelligent, and professional women has created a space where everyone feels safe, supported, and welcomed.”
The Mothers Day event, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, May 10 and 11, will give guests a chance to sample what Solitude has to offer and get a feel for the space, classes, and team, said Breault-Cardon.
“Whether you would like to just visit and walk around, or meet us, or maybe if you would like to attend a class, we welcome you,” she said.
“The one thing I absolutely love right now about Solitude is the growth and passion our team has,” added Breault-Cardon.
The free classes at Solitude begin on Saturday at 10 a.m. with a 30 minute session of breathwork. The guided practice aims to help participants release stress, enhance mindfulness and reconnect with their breath for a greater sense of balance and well-being. It is geared for all levels, from those experienced in the practice to the trying it out for the first time.
At 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, the business will offer “Shamanic Sound Journey,” a 30 minute session with instructor Gerri Davenport, a Celtic shaman.
At 11:30 a.m. this Saturday, visitors will have the chance to experience a half hour session of Reiki Sound Meditation. That class uses the gentle tones of the crystal singing bowls to fill the space and guide the group into deep relaxation—allowing stress to soften, thoughts to quiet, and the body to reset.
Saturday at 12:15 p.m., visitors are invited to join a 30 minute Women’s Circle/Reiki Q&A with Jennah Hubbell. Hubbell, a Reiki Master Teacher, certified in the Usui Reiki, has more than 17 years of expertise in energy healing and spiritual alignment.
The final free class in the series will take place on Sunday, with an hour of yoga starting at 7:30 a.m. The meditative slow flow Vinyasa class provides a calming and deeply intentional yoga experience where participants of all experience levels move mindfully through a series of gentle, flowing postures.
As with all Solitude classes, the free sessions are offered on a first come, first serve basis and participants are encouraged to register. Drop ins are welcome only if there is space remaining in the session. Registration for each of the weekend sessions is available here. Throughout the weekend, gift cards will also be available for purchase.
The special weekend will provide an informal way for those new to Solitude to learn about the business first hand, ask questions and get to know the team. Since its opening in 2020 at its original location behind Bella Restaurant, the business has offered massage, steadily expanding into a variety of wellness services.
“Whether you’re drawn to yoga, meditation, sound healing, drumming circles, Reiki, Reiki training, women’s circles, or our book club — or you’re looking for spa services like massage, acupuncture, facials, microneedling, cosmetic acupuncture, waxing, or lash and brow tinting and lifts — we are truly here to support you on your wellness journey, said Breault-Cardon.
The owner said she hopes to offer more free classes at some point in the future.
