A massage therapist was arrested in St. Petersburg after he was accused of battering a woman, according to an arrest affidavit.The St. Petersburg Police Department said Leonard Manuel Lopez De La Torre, 51, worked for a Massage Envy location. While with a woman on Aug. 2, Lopez De La Torre allegedly reached under the clientโs sheet and grabbed the client on the chest in an inappropriate manner, according to police.The affidavit said Massage Envy confirmed the victim was the suspectโs client on the day of the offense. The victim also identified the suspect from a photo pack, police said.Lopez De La Torre was charged with simple battery and booked into the Pinellas County Jail.Massage Envyโs corporate office released a statement encouraging the victims of inappropriate conduct to report it:"Massage Envy is committed to promoting a safe environment for members, guests and service providers at each of the over 1,100 independently owned and operated franchised locations nationwide. We urge anyone who experiences anything other than a safe, quality massage to report it immediately to the franchised location so that it can be investigated. We cannot comment on pending allegations or litigation involving any independently owned and operated franchised location."
