foot confused

hi guys,
Can anyone help. Just started my reflexology course and confused[&:] by which foot you start the treatment with (left or right) and also the reasons for this.

You should start with the left foot. I was taught that the left signifies the past so you treat it first.

Its confusing isnt it lol I still get my left and right feet mixed up when i come to mark areas on my consultation foot sheet. but i agree with the others always start with the clients right foot when facing you so you can continue the work on the colon.

I was also taught to start left for the same reason as Russ.......left for past.

Re the bowel thing. As someone who was a nurse for years in "reality"you can't start clearing further up alongthe bowel till you start to clear whats nearest the rectum end so I don't really buy into the bowel reason although I do agree you ARE following the flow of peristalsis and "matter".

Anyhow I agree that it doesn't really matter as long as all the reflexes are being worked.

P.S can anyone offer advice on my thread re young lass who went quite when I mentioned lumpy left ovary (wish I hadn't said ow't now)

Hello the Sandie, I would say go with what you are taught. As we have some of us starting with the right foot and some with the left foot it doesn't sound like it matters too much. PS I have enough trouble telling right from left, so this business about past and present, male and female, emotional and physical is just toooooo confusing for me
