Meeghan Dempsey couldn't have picked a better spot to sell her mobile massage machines than the Black Hills Stock Show & Rodeo, where a good number of rodeo riders and ranchers will surely be sore at some point.
Dempsey, who came to Rapid City from Denver this week to pitch the Casado massage machines on behalf of Webster Enterprises, has an upbeat approach to pitching the $400 machines.
"I don't have to do the hard sell, because they sell themselves," she said.
With a half-dozen demo chairs set up in LaCroix Hall on the first floor of the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center, Dempsey is ready to let the machines prove their worth. A short massage experienced by this writer provided proof that the machine digs in deep and has the same feel as massage chairs that cost thousands.
The portable massage machine is made in Germany, and has a stainless steel frame, heaters, and jade rollers that unwind knots or kinks in the neck, back and legs.
"They're nice because they work the whole body and you can take them anywhere with you," Dempsey said. That includes laying it on the floor for a foot massage, placing it flat to ease a migraine, or even using it in the car with a cigarette lighter adapter (she doesn't recommend getting a massage while driving, but said the passenger will love it.)
