A Fort Worth massage parlor was closed after an inspection by the Fort Worth Police Department and state regulators, police said in a news release on Friday.
The parlor, TAO Spa in the 1200 block of Woodhaven Road, has been ordered to close for six months after an investigation revealed โevidence of illegal services being offered to customers,โ police said.
Together with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, police have been conducting investigations of similar businesses in the city amid concerns about illegal activity such as human trafficking and sexual services, according to the statement.
The investigations are part of a recent initiative brought on by a change in state law that allows the Department of Licensing and Regulation to close businesses where illegal activity is found, police said.
Reports indicate that victims are being brought to Fort Worth from outside the United States and other Texas cities, such as Waco, to work at massage parlors, police said.
Potential victims at the TAO Spa were provided resources from the Fort Worth Police Department, and the investigation is ongoing, officials said.
