Friend introduced me to this girl, i don't know what to think now (girls opinions

pls)? Quick info: I'm 21, shes 19, (both university/college students)

My friend introduced me to this girl who is in a few of her classes that she sits next to. She was trying to set us up because this girl told my friend that she "wanted to date a nice guy" and my friend thought of me. So my friend and i (and some others) did something for Halloween that the girl also came to. Long story short; got her number and we went out last week.
But a couple days before we went out she texted me saying that she didn't want to lead me on and wanted to be friends before we both decided on being anything more. I wasn't expecting her to just jump in and be my girlfriend, i just wanted to hang out with her and get to know her more, so i was fine with this. Plus it was before we even went out for the first time.

So we went out, had a great time, good conversations, laughed, eye contact...etc. I texted her the next day saying i had a good time and that we should do it again. She responded saying she had a great time as well and wanted to do something this weekend (i.e. now). I texted her Saturday, during the day with a small conversation starter. She responded and i responded back. I got no response after that so i sent her another and asked if she still wanted to do anything and got nothing. I then texted her again and asked if she was free that night. Keep in mind i sent those two extra texts hours apart. And she still hasn't gotten back to me, its almost been 24 hours. I talked to my friend and she even said that this girl doesn't respond to texts sometimes (because she forgets, doesn't do it on purpose)

Im not taking it personally but i mean we just met, we're trying to hang out, how do you not respond to a text, even a simple "no" would help.
I text her once a day and she usually responds an hour later, so im used to her not getting back to me after a while, but i mean she didn't say anything.

I don't want to not text her because im interested in her, and i wanna show that but then again i don't want to spam her with texts/phone calls.

So girls, what do you think i should do? just wait for her to respond...text her, yet again? what are your opinions

I really suggest you just wait for her to respond; If it's true that she doesn't always have her phone or forgets to text, then she can't possibly get your multiple text even if you texted her more. It's best not to look like some freako who won't stop texting her when she obviously wasn't there.

Also since you want to become friends before boyfriend and girlfriends, you should definitely take it slower, maybe it'll take a day or two, but she can't not look at her phone for more than that. If she hasn't responded to you by two days, then that's when you should probably text her. If you don't text all your friends everyday, then you shouldn't text her everyday (since it's only been a short time you guys became friendly)
