Getting Rid Of Old Stuff

Looking for some advice/moral support with getting rid of some old stuff...That I can't quite bring myself to part with.

I used to be a RPG gamer and a wargamer. I still think of myself as such, but truth be told I haven't gamed since university, last mini I bought was about 3 years ago, and last book bought was even longer. Needless to say gaming now is less a part of my life than sex (and given I've gotten laid all of three times in the past year... )

The problem is that I'm having trouble parting with this stuff. I have quite a 'collection' of books and figured cluttering up the place. And I have quite a bit 'invested' in this stuff, in the form of time, effort, money and myself.

I have thought of selling it, but a lot of it is either customized, or out of print, having been updated and reprinted. So I doubt there'd be much demand for it.

Now I'm quite sure some of you here have been in the same spot as I. Would you care to offer advice? Or because I still feel some attachment to this stuff, am I not really ready to part with it?

Possessions bog you down, especially if they define you as you were in the past. Start the New Year with a blank slate.

Donate them to Goodwill or the Salvation Army, they'll be appreciated by someone else.
Keep one or two items to remember where you came from.

If someone can sell a used toothbrush on ebay, you should be able to get rid of your stuff....and if you want, donate the proceeds to a local charity......

I am kind of selfish in a way, whenever I want to feel good, I give something to someone......

This is where it gets silly. I have considered ebaying them in the past. Divying them up doesn't feel right. I just want them gone

well you could just put them on ebay as a big "lot of mixed gaming stuff". Someone with an ebay store might scoop it up. Might depend on how much stuff we are talking about.

We do get attached to our stuff...but its just stuff really. It has no feelings.

^^^^ which is what I've been posting over at redflagdeals.com about how so many were lining up on Christmas to get the "boxing day" deals that really weren't all that mind blowing to begin with.

To actually line up to buy "stuff" that we don't really need I mean, REALLY?

I said at one point: next time you're standing there freezing your ass off for 12 hrs to save $100.00 on that 60" flat screen tv that you don't really need, think of the kids this christmas who got nothing but a smack upside the head christmas morning. Or the kids at sick kids hospital who would give anything to go just 10 minutes without pain....might put your "lining up" into perspective.
