Gift for referrals to other professionals

I recall some past discussion about it not being legal to offer other professionals a finders fee or other compensation for referrals. What about other things?

I have a chiropractor (who is my chiropractor) who refers their massage overflow to me on a regular basis. I refer back to her, but not at the volume she refers to me. I was thinking of doing something personal as a thank you, but wasn't sure if it was going to be along the lines of finder's fees and such. Not that anyone else needs to know. :wink:

I also wondered what would be a nice and appropriate gift, especially since it is an ongoing partnership type thing.

Any thoughts?

i love this for a gift of appreciation. i've sent them out a couple of times and people absolutely LOVE it. it's different and unique and it's also something that can be left in the office for all staff to enjoy. odds are it's not only the chiro sending you clients but maybe front desk staff (of course i don't know that for sure but it's still a great thank you!).

Flowers. (seriously.) Sometimes I drop into the massage school so I stay on their radar for referrals. Occasionally someone will have brought in a bouquet of whatever is in season. (They like seasonal stuff rather than hothouse flowers.) Everyone LOVES the bouquets.

Gourmet snacks are always a winner too. It seems, though, that's it's more the sentiment of appreciation. People like to hear how much they've helped you, so it's likely that whatever note you attach to your thank you gift, will be the part that conveys what you want to say.

Which reminds me... I need to do a little of this myself.
