Glaucoma and Indian Head Massage

Hi!

Does anyone know if it's ok to give an Indian Head Massage to someone with Glaucoma? (As I understand it, Glaucoma is pressure withn the eye caused by excess fluid due to the flow of fluid out of the eye being obstructed).

If it isn't a total contra indication, would you need to adapt? Glaucoma is not mentioned in any of my books or training....

Hi Sparkie

You will be absolutely fine to give an IHM to someone with glaucoma and you won't need to adapt your treatment at all.

Thanks Delores. My routine also includes fingers circling around eyes, and pressure points across eyebrows. Does this all sound ok too? Have you had clients with glaucoma? I will be doing reflexology on her next week which should be beneficial, but good to know that you believe IHM is ok too as she would like to try this for anxiety and tension and I couldn't work out what effects IHM would have on the eyes.
