Good news from fertility clients

Hi Folks

I just wanted to share my excellent news.

A lovely client who has been coming to me since November, after TTC for a year is expecting a baby on November 21st MY Birthday!!!

Another lady who has PCOS and is pregnant is doing very well, despite having a bit of bleeding a few weeks ago.

I'm really chuffed that 3 out of 4 in four months have become pregnant. What a lovely job this is, and to be able to share in their joy.

I feel especially sympathetic as I have been there myself, and it is so painful emotionally when you cant conceive. I've now got 3 lovely children, thanks be.

That's FAB Jan! I love hearing stories like that. My reflexology tutor works with couples who are having fertility problems, she loves her job to bits. She would tell us all about the good results she has had. But just like you she wasn't at all big headed about it.

They mostly come from Yell.com,YP or Thompsons.

But I live in a London suburb, with a very high population, so more potential clients.

I often wonder how I will fair when we move to a more rural area near Colchester, there wont be nearly as big population.

i did the susanne enzer maternity reflexology part 1 course last summer and loved it. i learnt much more than i knew, including techniques that i include in general treatments.

the main thing, is the confidence to know how to treat maternity clients, from preconception to post natal.

THATS why i was aksing jan how she gets her clients because i find it difficult getting my hands on pregnant clients... its like midwives have the monopoly! and lets not forget the misinformation about not having treatments during pregnancy.

I haven't done a specific course but would really like to go on the Suzanne Enzer Course. Got some tips form my tutor.
There are some good lectures lined up at the AoR conference this year and I hope to go.(in warwickshire) Is anyone else going?

I have read lots of different Rflx books and articles and gleaned info from other people (Sara)! Also answers to questions on the aor website. But we all know the right 'buttons to press' just from our training. ie endocrines, repro's etc., hormone balancing. Also linking the pitutary and repros'. I dont touch the pituitary or repro's in the second half of the menstual cycle, (post ovulation) but still do relaxology!!
As Rosie says, its having the clients to use it on.

I treated a lady for the last 8 weeks of pregnancy, which was really good. But would certainly like to have more of these cases. I really hope my pregnant ladies will come for relaxation etc. I've always been really interested in infertility, fertility, pregnancy, childbirth etc, having experienced all 3 several times!! I would like to train as a midwife, but am too old now and dont have the stamina.

One thing though, I've read other reflexologist say that they can see the outline of the baby in the pregnant uterus reflex. Well I certainly couldn't. The bladder was very puffy though. Probably pelvic pressure as all the organs are so close and sit on each other.

It's interesting that you say that Jan (about training as a midwife) because that's what my sister's reflexologist is doing! Do you really think you're not up to it, because you sound very passionate on the subject?

As regards getting pregnant clients, I plan to contact my local NCT group to see about giving a talk. That would be a captive audience. Has anyone done this?

I have read about the Suzanne Enzer courses and heard very good things about them so maybe I'll sign up for one in the future. BTW things are going brilliantly with my one pregnant client. Each time she has come with a headache and left without it, and it's helping to relieve her constipation too. Sorry I'm hijacking your thread here Jan but it's so exciting isn't it?

i may not be in the right area... but i have advertised in one local NCT mag, provided leaflets to be given out at a sale of another groups and gave a talk to a third group. the response has been very disappointing (.

i think the NCT doesnt get them until too late... the clients i have had want inducing... not much repeat business there!

thats why i say its tough getting clients. i have been to see the local anti natal clinic midwives in the hopes that they might mention me to people, for relaxation if nothing else, but they only seemed to tack onto relieving symphysis pubis pain and induction.

i dont like to just approach what may be a pregnant lady in shops, in case she isnt (ooeerr).

i did have a couple of clients that i got elsewhere but were coincidentally with the same midwife. they had both asked about what could be done to help relaxation and she didnt give any suggestions. i had personally written to this midwife prior to hearing this <shrug>! education education education!!!!!!!

OOOOOH Rosie, you made me laugh about going up to pregnant ladies who aren't pregnant at all! Luckily I've never done that but I know people who have. One of those earth please swallow me up moments I reckon.

As you say, education education education. Got to get to those midwives or GPs somehow!

i did it at the raworth centre in dorking. you're not that far from there, are you? they have courses running this summer. i thought about the 2nd part but you need 20 case studies and i have not had the quota to fulfil that. but i am quite confident with my conception to birth knowledge and afterwards, its pretty straightforward. you do get to learn about being there for delivery though!

the work books are very good as a reminder of the work done on the course.

I didn't know you could use this to help out couples!!! Gosh, my ignorance knows no bounds!! Well done to you!!!
Will be looking into having this done when my time comes. Is there anything I should know (like who/what to avoid?). If not done right, can things go wrong??

in sub fertility, it is a good idea to treat the couple. stress is not just a female thing <g>. stress is one of the main reasons some couples have problems conceiving. but reflexology is such a balancing therapy, particularly good for regulating females cycles and sorting out hormones, there is no reason to belive that its not going to be good for the male reproductive bits.

i firmly believe that reflexology is safe to give during any part of the cycle and during the whole pregnancy, provided one is aware of problematic history and you know expedition of labour techniques and how to avoid them.

Really interested to read all the posts on this subject. I practise maternity reflexology and have seen the positive results as I am also a doula/birth partner and often am privileged to go to the birth as well. My experience is that women who have reflexology during their pregnancy, and certainly in the last couple of months, have less intense and shorter labours and all the babies seem very peaceful ! It's wonderful and I can't recommend it highly enough.

Re. fertility. Am attracting more clients who are having problems conceiving - can anyone advise as to frequency of treatments i.e. weekly for first 4 weeks or so and then pre-ovulation ???? Would appreciate any insight !
