Good Rebuttals!

Hi there. I was thinking that it might be kind of fun to hear what creative rebuttals other practitioners have come up with in answer to common (and not so common) reasons as to why a company doesn't want you to come in to do chair massage. I bring this up because I was turned down today by an H&R Block company. The woman was incredibly friendly but since "my employees are all seasonal and commission based, they come in, do their appointments and leave...they don't take breaks." And darn it, I wasn't prepared to come back with anything. Anyone have some good ideas?

How about, "Thank you for your time.  Would you mind if I left a few cards in case anyone might like to contact me after work?"?Keep in mind, it is their business, they don't have to have a reason.  If this was a cold call, saying anything else is going make you come off as pushy. (I'm thinking about annoying telemarketers right now.)  Cut your losses and move on to the next one.JMHO. Scav

Let me rephrase the way I worded my original post. I shouldn't have said a company that "doesn't want you to come in." Obviously, if someone says "no thank you, we are NOT interested," then you thank them for their  time and move on.  I, however, am talking about those people who express interest in general but have concerns about logistics like space or time constraints. And incidentally, each of these people has already received a packet of information on my business and it lets them know I will be calling in a couple of days time to answer any questions and/or set up a demo. Then when I call I specifically say who I am and why I'm calling to the person who answers the phone. That way if the person who received the package (office manager) doesn't want to they don't have to take my call.  Just don't want you to think I'm pushy!!

DO IT IN PERSON....if you try to sell it all over the phone, it's like a 1-dimension presentation. If you schedule an appointment with the individual in charge of making the decision on whether or not chair massage would be offered at their company to come in and speak with them just for a few minutes, the ability to "sell" has increased greatly. At this time, you can offer a demo so they feel the benefits. You can also check out the dynamics of the office -- is there a small conference center located nearby that could be used for a couple hours once a week? Offering a discount during the first chair massage session would also allow them to think twice before definitey saying "no thanks" to the whole idea. Be well,Jen
