Yeah, I have heard that. I think it is true.

BTW. I was in AB this weekend and I smoked in there. The waiters cleared my ashtray. Not a word was said to me. If that is the law then it is not being enforced in the Zona. Given the dismal drop in business in the Zona it would be unwise to enforce that rule.

A smoking ordinance won't stop boca de ashtray since the nicotine addicted chicas will take smoke breaks. If TJ does enforce this law it might mean your eyes will burn less and your clothes will smell more like chica perfume since there'll be less smoke to disguise the smell.

It appears that word of this new fed law has made it to the northwestern frontier of the Republic. People were lighting up everywhere I was last night. I asked a chica at Chicago who lit up a cig in front of me about the new federal law and she said some places are exempt. Clearly, she's not a government official but I could totally see TJ dragging its feat enforcing this law. After all, it also doesn't shut down for Ley Seca on elections and I don't think it shut down for the big swine flu scare in the spring.

They even shut down restaurants and clubs in Monterrey that didn't comply with the mandate some 2 weeks ago.

I don't think so. I see people still smoking in the bars all the time, and that includes my last trip about 1 week and 1/2 ago.

I'm surprised they made it a Federal mandate in Mexico!

I hope they ban smoking in Tijuana as I hate cigarette smoke. A few trips back I picked a chica from La Gloria and she was a smoker, and when I engaged in DFK with her, it was like kissing an ashtray!

Guys, has a "No Smoking" regulation been aplied in TJ at the clubs?

Clubs, non clubs, restaurants... the like?

It's a federal mandate that has been imposed like in the US where you can only smoke in open places.
No smoking inside the premises, etc.

Am very curious cause in Monterrey it has hurt up to a point the sc joints, certain clubs, and regular restaurants where people refuse to attend cause of the smoking ban.
