Churchill did some truly evil things, but was the right man to take on Hitler, who obviously was much worse. It is the nature of war - good guys do not win, you need brilliant and ruthless people on your side.

The point of my post is that politicians you may perceive as being terrible can actually do a lot of good in crisis, despite their records. Cuomo may be an establishment asshole, but right now he is showing true leadership.

Judging by the quality of the source you derive your "knowledge" from, I'd wager I know quite a bit more Churchill --and his faults-- than you. Let me guess, since they were white supremacists you think Jefferson and Washington shouldn't be celebrated?

You think calling Churchill a monster reflects the "truth"? This was my point to begin with. Historical figures should be judged according to their time and circumstance. Churchill was certainly flawed, and nevertheless one of the greatest if not the greatest statesmen of the 20th century. Yes, I know he was a racist, a narcissist, stubborn and often just plain wrong, but those things are what make a nuanced understanding necessary. To simply use a label like "monster" is worse than wrong, it's lazy. If you like, I can refer you to some reading.

Again I ask you to look at the map of the most affected countries in the world, they all have a disproportionate amount of naive ignorant liberals intent of letting everything and everyone into their countries no questions asked. Even in America, the virus hit the liberal regions first, and now will spread into the conservative regions, with all the diseased libs fleeing into those regions.

Trump did the right thing in shutting the border to China, but he made the mistake of keeping the border open to everyone else for months.

If Trump did close the borders to everyone he would have been labelled a crazy, xenophobic Nazi.

He was never allowed to do what he wanted.

Governor Cuomo is proof that people care about style over substance, talk over action, rhetoric over policy. Ooh I want to vote for him because he sounds eloquent. I don't care if he hasn't done anything meaningful in his lifetime career as a politician. He just sounds so refined. SMH. Typical shallow sentiments from your average asshole New Yorker. Boston > New York

Oh and let's not forget about the biggest disgrace in America, Governor Whitmer of Michigan. She is proof that draconian measures and direct violations of people's constitutional rights do not work. On the other hand, kudos to Florida and Georgia governors DeSantis and Kemp for common sense guidelines and closures! They took the basic approach and now they're shooting for a reopening date. A month ago, kids flooded the beaches for spring break at the height of the pandemic. DeSantis shut shit down for 3 weeks and they have seen a huge drop in the numbers. Also, much love to the city of Orlando for hosting an empty arena Wrestlemania with WWE. It was still a great show despite all the limitations that they had to work with.
