gp referrals?

Hi all...i was wondering if any of you have links with your local gps??if so Just wondering how you are getting alongand if the gps are actually using your services. do you price just a little cheaper if the gp has referred??
i have a copule of practices in mind that i might approach?

GP's are not allowed to refer to CM unless the therapy is approved by the NHS.

GPs also need to have some money in their budget to do referrals - and not all of them do, by any means.

Hi,

One of the best ways of developing good links with your GP or local GP practices is to offer to run a free class for patients of that practice.

Theclass could be a about 60-90 minutes duration and, maybe, you could run it once a week or every 2 weeks.

It is best to aim to help a general condition initially such as stress so that you get a reasonable number of attendees.

If you do this, you will then gain a better relationship with that GP's practice and are more likely to gain referrals of individual patients. The patients may be willing to pay for their own treatment if the local PCT will not provide funding.

May I please ask what is a CM?

I foudn this thread interesting as I work in Health and Wellbeing and was looking into ways to create GP referals to increase my client base and spread the word about all the wonderful Holistic approaches out there

I was considering doing additional Hypnotherapy courses to gain NHS approval as I thought this was the only way to get a referal from a GP. It turns out I was incorrect and being resgitered is more to do with NHS part funding and basically it is ultimately at the desrection of the GP and if they feel you are experienced enough and so on you can get referals anyway!

Ofcourse, I always get a referal letter from a GP if my client is working with a GP!!!

Just remembered tosay that if you help a client who had initially approached their doctor but the conventional treatment offered was not able to resolve the issue, don't forget to write to their doctor after treament ends. Thismust be with your client's permission and let their doctor know that you treated the client successfully.

This then keeps the doctor's records up-to-date with the health of their patient, it is what other professionals would do, and you may get referrals based on this.
