GRAHAM — An Asian massage parlor has shut down after Graham police found it did not have proper licensing.
The Graham Police Department was investigating the Rose Villa Asian Spa, at 133-E Auto Park Drive, Graham, for possible sex trafficking, said Capt. Steve McGilvray. An officer was conducting an undercover operation when he realized the business was not properly zoned.
The spa was zoned for medicinal purposes and not massage purposes, said McGilvray. Police charged the business's two owners — Hong Wei Zhang and Lan Fen Zhou — with misdemeanor aiding and abetting and not having the proper massage licenses.
The business subsequently closed and police believe it has reopened in Durham.
Alamance County law enforcement has become more diligent this year in addressing possible sex trafficking and prostitution. This spring and summer, the Times-News covered the shutdown or relocation of three Burlington businesses after it ran a story on alleged prostitution activity operating out of the businesses. The businesses, located on South Church Street, Huffman Mill Road and O'Neal Street, were reputed to provide "happy endings," or sexual releases, at the conclusion of massages.
