Guadalupana Fiesta returns to Centro

I thought this thread was another one about Guadalupe the famous SG. Yeah I was in TJ last night and saw the scores of booths already erected and it didn't look like they were ready, but I'm sure they will be. I was a little mad because they blocked the view of the Paris hotel, where some of my favorite SGs hang out.

I was also at the fair last year, but didn't know the name or what the fair was for, but I remember lots of people around.

I have visited a few times over the years, and there is plenty to eat, which is good for a guy like me. If you have time to break away from your mongering, I recommend visiting....you sometimes see a few of the chicas eating or milling around.

I am very happy to report that tonight there were workers erecting scores of booths for the annual Guadalupana Fiesta on Nino Heroes between 1st & 2nd streets. The construction work was coming along nicely in the rain, but the booths didn't look quite finished enough to open this weekend. No cooking equipment for the food booths was in place.

For those unfamiliar with this block-long faire, it tends to run from early December thru the first week in January. It has somewhere between 60 to 80 booths selling mostly food and gift items, with some booths devoted to carny games. Nearly all the food vendors set up near the 2nd street end, in front of the large church near Dorians. Great grub - I always enjoy a very nice Hurracha plate, complete with grilled beef, white cheese, shredded lettuce and nopales on top of a grilled corn thingamajig for about 35 pesos. Yum.
