I never go to Karaoke places, why pay 300 RMB to have a girl sit with you when you can find a girl to screw you for only 100RMB ? Not sure about Guangzhou, but I never paid more than 100RMB to get laid in Shenzhen.

There are pickpockets everywhere in China. Carry only few hundred RMB. Leave your wallet in the safe deposit. Sometimes they work as a mob. They will crowd all around you especially if you are with a girl and distracted. It happened to me when me and my girlfriend were entering a restaurent. I covered my pant pockets with my hands and told her to hold her bag tightly. After we entered the restaurent they told us the people crowding around us were pickpockets.
Be very carefull in crowded bars as well. Mugging is not so common.

Are there pickpockets around the airport, or any of the hotels? I'm not expecting to take the train, really.

Guangzhou - city of action. But you must be very very careful. Pick pockets everywhere. do not leave any bags unattended. especially at train stations, etc. they work in groups.
I go there every month, and the usual place to pick up are at karaokes. Usually the girl sits with you for RMB300 and then you can negotiate from then on. There are numerous massage/spas and they usually give sex packages as well.
Companions - well, you have to go more often and work on it...

Taking the train to GuangZhou is the best..I have done this over 20 times..It is the fastest and usually none stop or 1 stop..When you get to Guangzhou there is free shuttle to some hotels like the Garden Hotel, Landmark Hotel, White Swan Hotel and other hotels..I have stayed in the Garden Hotel (5 star) about $80 or so depending on the season also stayed at the Landmark Hotel (4 star) about $50.. The White Swan is the best (5 star) about $100..have not stayed there.

I don't know if there is a recommended hotel for mongers..but I heard there are girls hanging near the Starbuck at nights near the Garden Hotel..

I think it is safe to go out where there are lots of people..You can get around taking a cab..very cheap

Hi everyone, I will be travelling to China in October and needs some advice on couple ot things.
First, What's the best way to get from HongKong to Guangzhou? Is it safe to take the train?

Is there a list of recommended hotels for mongers in Guangzhou?
what are the things I should watch for? How safe is it to wander out in the street?

Any info, will be appreciated.
