GUYS: is this true? does this make you think twice about chatting to a girl?

whenever i complain to my friends or colleagues that i haven't had anyone ask me out on a date lately, or that no-one serious about relationships ever approaches me, they say it's because i'm too pretty and that i may put them off. or that i look like the kind of girl that has high standards.
i'd say i look like a girl who looks after herself but there are a thousand girls out there better looking than i am. could there be any truth in my friends' theories??a little help please, thanks!

Might be true. You see when an ugly guy "or at least a guy who thinks he's ugly" wants to ask you out and he sees that in his mind your so extremely hot that you'll want to do moe than catch a movie, go downtown and just goof off, etc. He thinks that he'll be dumped just because your date wasn't PERFECT. Just join a sport or something, worked for my sister when I told her this.

yes, there are girls that are hard to approach if they are extremely attractive. Guys (me) might figure that she'll be hit on by everybody and find a better guy pretty quickly

It all depends on the guys confidence. Personally, i dont really care if the girl is out of my league, i usually give it a shot anyway because luckily, girls are not as superficial as some guys. But that could be true for so guys, maybe some have been put down so much they dont even give it a shot.

Personally, i dont really think that is your problem. Just wait and see. i am sure someone worthwhile will come along

Hard to say since we don't know you, your age, the age group of guys you are attracted to, your behavior/personality, your appearance, etc.

Yes, some guys are intimidated by very attractive women, but overall it wouldn't be common for all men you meet to feel that way, even if you were drop-dead gorgeous. There are plenty of guys not intimidated by looks...so I doubt that's the only reason (if part of the reason at all) that you're going through a dry spell.

Well, it's alright to be a girl with standards, but just be yourself and if you;re interested in a guy, please lay some hints as to let him know you're available and make him realize he may have a chance with you without feeling intimated and that you could never like a guy like him. If you're beautiful and seeming to be higher standing, guys may think you won't be into them, but if you like a guy make sure to make a small effort to make him realize that he's special to you. Some guys may be a little put off by how beautiful you are, if they think that they dont have a chance. But this can be resolved by simply being outgoing and confident. When I guy sees a beautiful girl he usually thinks that she'll act snobbish and blow him off. By being outgoing and friendly, he'll want you more than anything. yeah i agree with your friends. it happens.
before i was with my bf.
i used to feel the same wayy as you.
i know that im very pretty and so are my friends.
but for some reason guys always went for them instead of me
and now that im older and look back i notice that i carry myself different then they did.
they were more " out there" and im the kind of girl who does have high standards and doesnt settle for less in any way. that is NOT a bad thing girl ! trust me.
and you know what im glad that im that way and if thats how you are you should be proud of yourself.

look what happened to me. i kept gettin guys who like you wouldnt ask me out or werent really relationship material.. and then POOF. one day out of no where i met the love of my life and he never makes me settle for less in any way.
one day you will find a guy who isnt intimidated by your "high standards" and trust me. that is the type of guy you deserve.

Maybe you just appear to be too high maintenance. Maybe your mannerisms are a bit snobby and prissy. I'm not a guy, but that is a total turn off and most guys won't put up with it. If you are really pretty, they probably look at you and say "Yeah, but it's not worth putting up with!"
Calm down a little. You can still take care of yourself and be relaxed at the same time.

Most likely true. I have the tendency to assume all girls who are very pretty either have boyfriends, or wouldn't be interested in me.

Not really your fault. But if one even started a conversation with me, the tables would turn, very fast.

If you see a guy you think is kinda cute, talk to him about something stupid. I'm dead serious. It doesn't even have to matter what it is. Pick up something and talk about it.

If the guy is interested in you, (and if you're pretty, most of them will be)
Then they'll pick up the conversation in a hurry.
