Have I left it it too long after 5 months to introduce myself?

I started college in September, and there's a girl who always gets the same bus as me to the same college. We often get the bus together, get to college and get in the same lift together, but we've never talked. She looks like a nice person and I don't know many people at college so I decided I wanted to introduce myself and start talking to her. Thing is, I feel rude saying hi now, in January, when this has been happening since September. Also very nervous. Should I talk to her?

A problem though: she always has her earphones in, listening to loud music, so I don't know how to get her attention in the first place!
