Drilling holes in stones... hmmmmm... that just depends... there is a whole ranging debate on natural vs. polished which would include drilled stones.

In short, it really depends on the stone.

The ones in the picture, I really don't get much of a feel from, I feel a weak presence there, not a focused spirit energy, they could just need some TLC.

Some stones allow or volunteer themselves to be altered so they may interact with a wider range of people. (Cut stones for jewelry for example). Sometimes the modifications make them stronger, ie facting can define a greater focus, if done by the right person).

As for would the stones work for what they are intended, possibly, that I can't say for sure without trying them. If you are looking for energy assistance from the stones themselves, like I said before, it depends on the stone.

I prefer to hand pick all of the stones I use, or have someone I trust pick them which would include hot stones, if I used them. That way you can gauge for yourself if the stones still have spirit. Even if you don't think you sense energy from stones, pick the ones that "feel" the best to you. You are bound to be attracted one over another, even if there is no visible difference.

I hope that sheds some light on the subject.
