Having a basin in your practice room

A little question for those who work from home practices. If the room didn't originally have any form of washing facilities in it did you put something in?

As a general question, do you think it is better to have a small basin in your practice room? I am currently looking at ideas for sinks to put into my room and just wanted to hear others thoughts on them.

I put an very small ensuite in mine, toilet, small custom shower cubicle and small sink....its clean, convienent and well cosy!!

That would have been my ideal solution, but unfortunately space doesn't allow. And i'm not sure clients would want to wander down into a cellar to freshen up.

A shower next to the treatment room? Might be usefull on hot sticky days... But then some clients might get the wrong idea!

on a more serious note...

If i have a real problem with muscles and spasms with clients (i do a lot of rehab work) it is not uncommon for me especially in winter to get them to stand in a really really HOT shower and then get them straight on the couch, saves lots of time warming up the muscles and means they get more massage time if that makes sense...

Fortunately the practice room is directly above the cellar that has water pipes and a drain that can be probably be used so shouldn't be too expensive. Its a nice luxury and one that I would love to have.

sounds like you have just answered whether or not to have one....

If i didnt have my little room and it was easy to install I would definitely go for one if only for the fact clients can see you wash before and also after you are not spreading remananents or oil etc on door handles....there are some nice basins on the market and some are free standing basins ie just the bowl with no boxing in underneath and look really nice there are also a couple that have a single chrome rail attached so you could keep a towle on there out of the way..

I was hoping to get a feel for other peoples views, which have really confirmed my own thoughts.

You actually mentioned something I deleted from my previous post before posting. When I go to a therapist I like to see them wash their hands before a treatment.

Thanks fro the answer TB. My thepries are all "clothes on" (Shiatsu, Reiki), and I do not work foccusing on muscles as such. But yes, getting a warm up direclty from the shower makes sense.
