Healing Touch???

Hi all

I'm interested to find out a little more about the energy modality 'Healing Touch'. All I know is it appears to be big in the US (haven't heard much about it in Australia though) & a lot of RN's (nurses) practice it. If anyone practices HT or knows a whole lot more about it than me (wouldn't be hard) can you please explain how it differs from Reiki & why does it take up to 6 levels/courses to become a practitioner? :?

We were introduced to it in massage school. With Reiki, there are certain symbols that are given / drawn to open channels when you are going through each level.... then, there are hand positions that are somewhat prescribed positions for the hands to be held in on or just over the body when transmitting Reiki to the patient.... boy, that's a cruddy explanation of the teaching of Reiki to be sure....

anyway, Krieger devised a way of holding the hands just off the body assessing the texture and so on of the person's energy field. There's all kinds of fluffing, and smoothing techniques that we were shown for Healing Touch, but, there were no symbols to help open to channelling healing energy through you to the patient as in Reiki..... it was a bit more practitioner actively moving things around than I have experienced in receiving and in providing Reiki....

As for why it would take so long to receive the training, of that I have no understanding..... sorry I'm not much better help than that. You might try finding Krieger's book on Healing Touch and reading about it before you take classes. From what I learned in class, and from the things I read in Krieger's book on Healing Touch, all the whoopteedoo is about learning to perceive the energies, how to know when one area is depleted, needs fluffed and polished, smoothed, etc...... those aren't the real terms she uses, but, they will suffice since the book is in my office downstairs and I'm too lazy to get up and hunt for it right now. I don't know how energetically sensitive you are, but, if you aren't, then it might be that that is part of why the "lengthy" training period......
