healthline and master massage table.

hi everyone,

i just find out about this forum, and decided to subscribe
I am a beauty therapist, but for the past 2 years I have moved more to the holistic side.
Could anyone tell me if they have heard of "healthline" or "master" massage table, would you recommend them for deep tissue or any heavy duty massage?

I know Costco was selling Master Massage tables. I teach at a massage school & a few years ago several of my students bought them because of the lower costs. Many had no problem (this was during the first 10 weeks of training), but several were defective, cracked during use, etc. The company replaced them, but I would be very hesitant about using them for deep tissue.

I think it's wise to get the best table you can afford. If cost is an issue, check for used tables.

I believe Sams carries them, now. Someone here got one and uses it for outcalls, and she does deep tissue work. Maybe they've improved them significantly? I have one of their chairs (3.5 years old now) and love it.

Uh, yeah, that would be me. :

I have a Duralite which is made by Master Massage tables for Sam's Club.
It is about 6 months old now and I've never had any problems with it. It is much lighter than my old table and that has enabled me to keep on doing outcalls. My clients were happy with my old massage table (Earthlite Avalon which is 10 years old)... but the weight of it was getting to me.
The new table is an inch smaller width wise, but much softer and more comfortable according to my clients.

I certainly don't feel bad about sitting on my table or doing deep tissue work on my clients, but I wouldn't get up on the table with the client. But that has more to do with me than the table. :

I actually had the sales associates get the table down and put it in the middle of the aisle... I looked it all over from many angles. Pushed, pulled & pressed it from every angle I could think of. I looked at one of the girls and considered asking her to get on the table but before I could the other said, "You're a massage therapist, aren't you?" : What gave it away?

Honestly I'm happy with my purchase... but then I still have my 10 yr old Earthlite Avalon to fall back on in a pinch.

I have a "Master" I bought 6 or 7 years ago, from Costco. I still happily use it, but unless they have significantly strengthened them, I would hesitate to use one for heavy work. The bones of mine are very sturdy and well built (frame/legs/cables), but the tabletop surface was such thin veneer/plywood that I could hear it CRACKING when my husband would push himself up on one elbow. After the first couple years I actually took the whole table to pieces, removed the upholstery and padding, and screwed thicker stronger pieces of 1/2" plywood on. It was a big pain, though much cheaper than replacing the whole table - but if the plain old "Masters" are still built so light-duty, I would recommend a different table. Try to find out the thickness of the tabletop surface - my original was super-thin, certainly no more than 1/4".

thanks so much for your advices! Cost is a bit of a problem for me right now. I will look for a second hand very good quality one!
Has any one heard of "healhline"?
