Hello all,

Just to introduce myself as a new acupuncturist to the forum. I have a private practice in Chorlton, Manchester and volunteer in Prestwich.

This seems like a great resource and I look forward to reading all the posts. If there are any acupuncturists who wish to discuss ideas and difficult cases that would be good too, though best to do that via private messages.

Not bad idea to discuss things like drug addiction treatments, especially if there are 6 or 8 Chi techniques in classic acupuncture, similar to these staff methods in Su-jok.

Hello,

Most addiction clinics use the NADA protocol or similar which is auricular acupuncture. People normally sit in a group setting and have a set of points needled on their ears. It's had some excellent results.

I however practice traditional Chinese acupuncture and I'd therefore treat the person holistically with body acupuncture and a very personal treatment plan.

I don't know of 6 or 8 qi techiniques in acupuncture, but this doesn't mean it doesn't exist, I just may not have come across these yet. I have a feeling acupuncture is going to be a lifetime of learning, much to my delight!

Right about very personal plane for each one.
I practice Su-jok, the Onnuri Medicine, the 6 and 8 Qi techniques are from there, plus Triorigin, like Tamas, Rajas and Sattva in Hindus terms.

? can't say i've heard of this myself, although there are many systems out there.

Isn't it all the same? with the same goal?

Its like training in taijiquan, differnet names with different teachers! all trying to make a name for there systems....fair play.

Aricular acupuncture is the best treatment for addiction...full stop! tried...tested.

Its still a part of ' traditional chinese acupuncture', its just most people havn't been taught it as part of there training........i wonder why eh!

For 6 and 8 Qi energies behave somewhat

Auricular acupuncture was invented in France in the 1950's by a French neurologist called Paul Nogier.

It can be very effective as a support in addiction treatment, but isn't traditional Chinese medicine.
