Help - any homeopathic remedies for diarrhaea?

Hi All -

I've been fighting an annoying flu virus since Tuesday - I was able to do my interview massage Tuesday morning, despite feeling a bit run down and starting what felt like a head cold.

Well, Tuesday laste afternoon, I got hit with a wave of exhaustion and suddenly jsut was like, really, really tired. So, I gathered up my stuff & went home. Then, the congestion just really kicked in and I started feeling not too swift at all.

Then, the stomach cramps, gas, and diarrhaea hit real hard. And, no matter what I've eaten since then, the indigestion won't go away.

So, considering that I have allergies to the 2 primary ingredients in 95% of all cold meds and I'm tired of hacking up a lung as well as having the damn indigestion that never ends - I'm hoping for some help here from y'all.

Does anyone know of some homeopathic remedies that might help me out here? There's no way I can work on anybody seeing as how I am still very coneforum.xxxious and so don't want to wish this on anybody else!

There wouldnt happen to be sorbitol in your meds, would there?? My tummy doesnt like sorbitol at all. I really wish they would put warning labels on food with sorbitol in them, it would make my life so much easier.

A lot of people dont know they have a reaction to artificial sweeteners.

I haven't been taking anything - my med allergies are to sudafed & gaufenisen - decongestant & cough surpressant.

I thought that with a few days rest, this thing would clear up.... but no.

I'm now very tired of feeling very raw from this virus & I don't know what to do.

That's what I thought, but now my mother is complaining about stomach upset and my friend Rob is also complaing of the same symptoms since he came out last night. (At least the digestive upset - he's still fighting the dregs of a sinus infection.)

Sooo... I'm beginning to wonder. We've all had different things to eat.

Peppermint oil rubbed on the area of the stomach is excellent for nausea. It aids in digestion too. When my husband had the flu about a month ago, he also had it for about a week. It finally seemed to break when I got him some Gatorade to drink. I think the diareah takes over and the electrolites get low, the Gatorade will bring them back up. Water is an absolute must also. And just a hint about the Gatorade----- if it tastes sweet when you drink it, you are dehydrated and need it. When you are not dehydrated, that is when it doesn't taste all that great. Hope this helps.....

I feel for you.

Last fall I picked up a bug that attacked my digestive system. I was making frequent trips to the bathroom, and after about 4 days of ridiculous diarrhea I broke down and went to the doc. He reminded me that with a virus such as this my body was actively doing it's best to rid itself of the bug, and just to keep drinking to keep up with the fluid loss. He did prescribe something for me that could slow the frequency, but really, reminded me that my body just had to work it's way through this.

The only thing I imagined that could make me feel better at that point, was a popsicle.



It cleared up on about the 6th day.

And just a hint about the Gatorade----- if it tastes sweet when you drink it, you are dehydrated and need it. When you are not dehydrated, that is when it doesn't taste all that great. Hope this helps.....

I hated Gatorade most of my life. Then a couple years ago I had the worst flu of my life, vomitting (a lot) for the first time since I was a small kid. My mom, who still lived in town then (what am I going to do the next time I'm that sick?) brought me of all things Gatorade. It was like ambrosia. So, if you're a fruit juice person like me and normally turn your nose up at Gatorade, heed dodab's advice.

But, I will try fennl &/or peppermint oil today once I help my new rommate get her stuff in the apartment here. Of course, it's raining cats & dogs today too!

Try massaging your abdomen in the OPPOSITE direction of the normal "flow" of digestion. Learned that trick in massage school when we were learning reflexive stroking to stimulate peristalsis --"And, when this starts to work too well for your client, rub their tummies the oppostite way!"

Ginger ale or ginger tea help calm the digestive tract also.
