Help Guys (opening MPA)

I just need some help with a couple questions. I am thinking of opening an MP in the greater Toronto area or Hamilton. Now I just want to know what the legal rules are when it come to owning one? Can I get in trouble with the law for owning one or as long as I am not invloved in what happens in the room then I am ok. Would I get girls to sign something so I am not invloed in what takes part? Just would like some advice and info from people who know anything about the rules. I would not mind spending alot of money investing in a really nice place for people but i dont want to find out i have to close it. And if I do get in trouble with the Law, what fines or charges can they nail me for.

The rules and regulations vary from city to city and town to town. Miississauga permits nudity but both feet must be on the ground (low tables anyone?). The rest are either trying to eliminate body rub parlours completely or require the girls to be covered with a robe at all times.

Kayla from MBB did write out and post the bylaws for the city that HFH is located in and I have copies of the bylaws pertaining to durham region's towns and cities and let me tell ya, its tough to do it legally.

Just wondering what kinda of trouble you could get into if someting slips. like is there like jail time or just a fine or do they just force u to close down. I am thinking Hamilton so I dunno is that helps with laws... Etc...

Apparently there are only three lisences for Massage parlours in Hamilton. Queenston, King-Sherman and the owner of the old Delta stills holds the third one. I highly doubt that you could get a lisence, which means any operation you run would be illegal. Obviously lots of others do operate, and some are ignored by police, but I don't know how you get to the point that the police ignore you.
I'm all in favour of another spot in Hamilton, so keep us posted.

The owner of the Delta licence is using becuase she is opening that new one on Kenilworth north. So hamilton is out of the question. There are already too many unlicenced places in the Hammer drawing too much attention to things.

If you're actually serious about investing money and opening a MP, it would be prudent to consult an attorney and accountant about these issues. What are you going to tell the police or Revenue Canada if there's trouble - geeez the boys over there on massageplanet.net told me that it was OK?
Just a thought but since this would be the kind of business that would naturally attract trouble, maybe you should consider getting advice from professionals.

I tried opening up a MP in North York a few years a go- but decided against it because it was just too much work. There are a few ways of doing it 1) you could get a licence for a budy rub place- which is very difficult (i was turned down) and then you need to make sure all your MPA's have body rub licences. YOu also need to be very careful to follow all rules given by the city on FS and such.
2) get a licence for a holistic centre and get all your mpa's to get holistic licences, much easier. This can work pretty well, as long as you are smart when undercover cops come in and make sure you don't offer any "extras" beyond the massage.
3) the easiest way, but the easiest way to get found out- rent an appt. somewhere with no licences or permits and hope nobody catchs you. I have a buddy that has been doing that for years and still no tickets.
Lastly- get a lawyer to fight tickets for you. YOu are pretty safe as an owner unless there is FS going on, because that would make you... a pimp?? Good Luck!
