HELP PLEASE---NUMB FOOT

My back went again on tuesday last week, it was my normal right leg sciatica but it was mainly in my right buttock. On tuesday there the sciatica stopped on now my big toe, top of my foot and half way on my right foot are numb?

I went to the doctors, he donr the normal tests and im waiting on an MRI scan and more physio.

I had an MRI scan last year that produced an L5 bulg and L4 herniation. I have not been pain free since feb'o5.

Is this numbness permanent or will it pass?

any help/comments would be great.

thinking about trying pilates soon.

hi Paul,
I'm sorry no one has posted a reply but in my opinion there are too many variables to comment, the numbness shouldn't be permanent , i wolud consider a beginners pilates class or a specialist exercise therapist try reading corrective exercise by kesh patel publishedby hodder arnold education as its a great text.

The MRI will take a good 6 months i think.

Hey Sharks
Have you heard of the Bowen Technique? It's a very gentle technique so shouldn't cause you any harm while you are waiting for you MRI. Even though Bowen is gentle it's incredibly powerful.It's very straightforward and lots of physios etc are training in it cos it seems to work for many different conditions. It's great. Typically results can be seen within 2 - 4sessions, so you'll know if it's working for you.

I agree with Gaz, too many variables too comment on directly but have you had any professional advice on your posture?

In my experience doctors often only give the basic generic advice, sit up straight, lumbar support etc etc.

I would make an appointment with an Osteopath. They are often able to give much more tailored advice and treatment.
