Help with a cracking facerest!

I have a 4 yr. old Custom Craftworks table that has been very good to me, except that the adjustable face rest has cracked loudly a couple of times; when pressure it placed on it. When it has happened its when someone is just getting adjusted (I start them face down) and they lean on it or when they are getting on the table and thinks its there for them hoist themself up on, I'll be in the lobby waiting for the OK and Ill hear that awfull sound and just cringe - knowing exactly what they are doing to my baby!  I am assuming that is the cause. I need to fix this so it doesn't happen again (it just ruined a great massage today!), has anybody had this happen to them before?  Was there anything you could do to fix it or did you just have to invest in a new face cradle?  Thanks for any help!Dori kate

it sounds like your frame's gears are slightly stripped  :'(you should probably invest in a new frame.

I have an older custom craftworks table and my face cradle does the same thing. A client of mine tightened it for me and that worked for a while (not sure what he did), but it will still do it if enough pressure is placed on it.  I made sure to tell clients not to place their weight on the face cradle and that helped too.  It is not loose enough that I worry, but it is time to replace it.  I am looking to buy a new table soon, so I was just going to wait till then to do something.Depending on your situation you may want to replace it.

I loose my cell phone every other week, I doubt I kept  track of some papers from 4 yrs ago! Actually now that I think about it - I might have ........somewhere in the abyss that is my filling system -   Great tip - I'll poke around and see if I can track anything down!  Thanks much!Dori

I am pretty sure that I called about a year ago to check on the warranty info and was told it didn't cover the face cradle, just the table structure.  Here is a copy of the warranty info from the website.  *Our Lifetime Warranty guarantees the structure of our portable tables against defects in materials and craftmanship to the original purchaser. Our foams carry a manufacturer's warranty against defects for five years and our fabrics for three years. This warranty does not cover damages caused by improper setup, accidents, misuse and tears on cracks in the upholstery. Warranty is limited to repair or replacement of the table at Custom Craftworks' discretion.* I am sure it is worth calling about if you find your paperwork.  Could have just been the person that I talked to.  You know how you can get different answers from people in the same company.Let me know if you find out any different.

Not so sure you even would need your sales receipt... why not just look up the serial # (it's on the bottom of my earthlite avalon) and read that off to them. That's what I did when I needed a replacement bolt for my earthlite avalon, at the time I just called within the 5 year warranty they had on their tables when I bought it.They should be able to tell you when it was manufactured and all that stuff!Now, earthlite  of course,has a lifetime warranty... I don't know whether that means they make them better Now, or what. LOLAnyway, my point is why go digging through files if all you have to do is flip the table over and dial a 800#?

I had so many people leaning on my face cradle that I remove it, have them get on the table, then put it in place to adjust it for them.  Then I take it off again when I have them turn over. They even seem to like that it is adjusted "just for them."

I rarely have the face cradle on the table when the person gets on, as most of the time I start a massage supine. I also have an armrest, that does not get put up until I am at the table, so they don't put pressure on it, and I generally take it down before the client gets up to protect the equipment. Any luck with the warantee DK?
