Help!

Hi there, I have seen my recent LMT 5 times. I received a letter from her today saying she was terminating me due to tardiness. I have been late. I explained I had gotten hurt in the air force and had to have major surgery and have been dpressed since. it takes a lot to motivate myself to leave the house. She never said it was an issue but I was embarraessed and wanted to explain. If I'm late that's on me. I didn't care if she cut my sessions short because of it. I'm just shocked. There was no warning what so ever. Had I known it was an issue I would have tried harder.she knows the amt of pain I'm in, I called her for an appt because I could barely walk. I'm a massage therapist too and yes clients annoy me but I do warn them. We are not to do harm and I feel she was abrupt. What should I do?

Perhaps it is best to find a new MT.

However, you could call the MT who dropped you and let her know you received the letter and that you would like to know if she would be interested in taking you back as a client with the understanding that you will always pay the full amount of the session, even if you show up late in the future.

This way, you have the chance to clear the air and see if she would be agreeable to the suggestion.

Help!

Some people are better at tolerating lateness than others.

This is probably a big deal to her. For those of us who are SO concerned about being on time that we are EARLY for everything, someone who is always late is difficult to tolerate - it triggers a little bit of anxiety, which isn't the most desirable state when you are a massage therapist. It also disrupts their schedule and impacts other clients.
The reasons for the chronic lateness make no difference.

Find someone who is more flexible.
