hi (fed up with upper back help!!!))

hope someone can help about 8 weeks ago i move a book case and since then ive been having an aching pain between my shoulder blade and spine, been doctors had pain killers, had accupncuture that takes it off two days gomes back,and been to osetepath, the ache as stayed about the same the only rest i get if i sit back on a good back support if i sit forward it seems to start aching,anyone have any ideas, if its a pulled or torn musscle should i still be suffering???

what assessment did the osteopath give you?

get someone to gently palpate the muscle on the painful side, is it tighter in comparison?

Hi Kevin,

If you have pulled or torn any muscles or ligaments in your back then it can take a while for them to heal. Last March I had a bad landing after catching an edge on some ice while snowboarding and had a really hard 'getting to know you' with the slope. For about a week I could not even but my socks on or bend over and the inbetween bit of sitting or standing was not pleasant. Anyway, you live it with don't you and either I got used to it or it got a little better. The doctor did not think that I had broken my coccyx (although that is now under debate) but I have damaged the bundle of muscles and ligaments in my lower back, just past the lumbar area, and they are still giving me jip. The only advice I have really been given is to ice, ice and ice in order to try and take away any inflamation with the occasion light massage and manipulation to ease the tightness. I figure that it where I have damaged myself and probably where you have pulled gets a lot of movement in day to day activity so healing just takes a little longer.

Sorry I don't have the answers - apart from ice - once you get over the inital shock of the cold it really helps me (make sure you don;t put it directly onto the skin)
