Hi I am new to this forum however I have been looking at the many pages of information. I am currently suffering from severe lower back pain causing pain in my back lower right buttock the back of my thigh muscle knee and numbness in my right foot especialy my little toe and the one next to it. The pain has affected my mobility since I had an accident at work on the 10th January when stair treads gave way causing me to fall onto my back. Since then it seams that the doctors just want to fill me with tablets for the pain. I am currently taking Tramadol 50mg x2 four times a day diclofenac 50mg 1 three times a day paracetamol 500mg x 2 four times a day and 4 x amitriptylan 10mg at night. I have seen a physiotherapyst who tried various treatment including traction (which moved the pain) and acupuncture which seemed to do nothing. I cannot drive and cannot walk very far without severe pain and spend a lot of time having to lye down with my feet raised to relieve the pain. I have seen a neuro surgeon who by looking at my movement only said I have a polapsed disk and has refred me for a MRI scan this I have been told can take months unless as advised by the surgeons secretary I go private ( only happens that when I make enquiries the surgeon works at the private hospital too!!)
I am worried as my physo has advised he can not do anything further and both the doctor and him are already mentioning operations. I realy would try anything to stop the pain but it seems that I am having to follow a path laid out by my gp and consultant I just hope that at some point I will be given choices. I have read a lot and I know there are pros and cons for surgery and I just hope the route I take is the right one as I am desperate to get back to normal life. Well I have had time to type this and doing so has helped me any advise would be helpfull and I will continue to look through the forum to get a picture of what options are available. These forums are a great help thanks again
