Hi everyone im new to this site and looking for advice and any tips you may have to offer. i have suffered with back problems since 2002 and was diagnosed with fibromyalgia amongst others,in september this year i started with a different pain in the back which radiates down the leg had an mri in october and consultant diagnosed disc prolapse and recommended surgery (discectomy L4/L5)i am due for surgery on the 11th december and had pre-op yesterday i am terrified of the op and worried about coping after op as have 1 yr old and 8 yr old although have very supportive husband and family.I know everyone is different but i am the sort of person that would rather know what is going to happen i am on tramadol, parcetamol ,diclefenic and diazapam at the moment as pain in leg is so bad .Hope everyone is managing ok and feeling ok i have been lurking for a few weeks and think you are all very strong and have kept me positive thanks claire x

Sorry to hear of your health troubles. You are definitely not alone though.
You may like to come on over to the 'Discectomy - After the Operation' thread, where there are a number of us who are both pre and post Discectomy.

I've recently had a L4/5 Discectomy and for me, so far, so good. I am still in the recovery phase but I am really glad I went through the operation. For me it was well worth it and I hope that it will be for you too.

Anyway, hope to 'see' you on the other thread.
