How can i get my 3 year old tabby cat to like my 8 week old shiatsu x maltese puppy?

hi, my cat jemma has never been used to dogs so i thought that when i got my new puppy she might think because it's smaller then her she can get used to him...but she didn't like him and keeps going for him...help please!

give the cat her space, let her come around on her own, but don't let the puppy over run the cat, cause the cat will just get annoyed, just give your cat its space, and some time, for her to get use to the idea of her having a new brother that's a dog you also might want to try to separate them, only let them meet while your there to look after them both, every time she goes after the puppy you can try spraying her in the face with water, that's how you get cats to stop bad habits, i bought a 50cent spray bottle at the store, that's used to put water in them, filled it up with water here at my house, usually my cat would go after my bird cage and knock it down, after awhile, of spraying her in the face with water, she stop going after the bird cage, now she just lays down next to the cage looking at the bird, not really doing anything to the bird or the cage

Leave the dog in it's basket and don't make a fuss of trying to introduce them they will investigate each other in their own time, and don't yell at the pup for chasing the cat, just have some treats to give it when it comes when called... that way it'll just turn around and come to you for a treat rather than keep chasing what it thinks you are worried about too!

when My dog goes to a cat house, the cats want to have a go at her all the time she just looks at them wags her tail and goes off to a rawhide bone, the cats eventually come up to see whats going on, they can be inches apart waiting for the other to start an incident, and that lasts for hours!

Both of the answers above are right. Give them time, don't force it, and be patient, don't yell or scold your dog, although he does need to know that he is not allowed to chase or terrorize your cat - if he does that just say no firmly and distract him. And don't yell or scold your cat either. Afterall, it was her/his home first, and he sees your adorable little puppy as an intruder.

We've had a cat for about five years now. 6 months ago we brought home a 6 week old Pug puppy. We brought him in and sat on the floor with him. Our cat slowly came over after a few minutes, sniffed him and walked away. I wish I could say they instantly became best friends - I had hopes of them sleeping together side by side lol - but our cat is just now getting to where she will even be in the same room with him, sometimes she will even sleep up on the couch with our puppy sleeping on the floor. She tolerates him. We hope in a few more months she'll be even more accepting of him.

Again, just don't push or force. Give each of your pets equal attention, and let each one see you petting the other so that they both see that they are both part of the family.

Take it very slow and let your cat investigate the puppy under your watch. Separate them when you're not there to supervise. Remember that your cat may settle down with the puppy soon when she realises that its here to stay.
ps- I think "shiatsu" is a massage not a dog breed... Its Shih Tzu
