How can i introduce a new kitten to my dog?

Hello!
I am getting a new kitten in a couple of weeks and i need to know how to introduce the kitten to my 8 year old Springer Spaniel. I want to do this properly so i can keep the kitten. They will both live outdoors but they will sleep and eat in the garage.

Be sure that the new kitten smells familiar. Let the kitten cuddle with you in your bedsheets before you introduce it to your dog. Also, make sure your dog is not playful and hyper when the new kitten comes in.

 

[Thunder Sleeps]

Let your dog sleep on an old towel for a while. When you get the kitten, rub it and wrap it in the dog's towel so it is covered in the dog's scent. Then bring the kitten in to see the dog. The dog will more likely be accepting of the kitten if it smells familiar (and like itself)
