How can I introduce my boyfriend to my parents?

Hey.
Well I've been in a long distance relationship with this guy. He lives far away from where i am, so he's planning to come for us to meet this summer. I'm really excited but still nervous about seeing him for first time.

We've been together for longer than a year and we've been knowing eachother for 2. I really would love to bring him home to meet the folks, but I don't know, I never brought any men before because my parents don't really like that so this is a new thing for me, I'm 18 and he's almost 22.
How do you people introduce your significant others to the family?

My mom has a very special character, she's very hard to please and I'm afraid she could be mean to him, my dad is more easy going but he always cries in emotional situations and that'd be embarrassing if he cries in front of my guy, my brother is very protective with me and I don't know how he'll react to this situation. My whole family is very old fashioned.

It's for sure I'll bring him home, because I've decided to do so and he wants to meet them, and I think that's a good start for a serious relationship like the one we have so I just wanna know how to do this, and does he has to ask for permission to my parents to date me (that's what I've heard from my dad)?
