How can I make the Skype video chat on my iPod to work?

I just downloaded the free Skype app for my iPod touch 4g, and I called the tester contact to see if it worked, but I couldn't video chat, the icon was there, but I couldn't press it. Help? Should I delete it and redownload it?
So the thing popped up, but the video only came up for 2 seconds and disconnected.
