how do i file taxes and tax returns? (newbie)?

i've had a job since last year (jan 26), and i've made about 7k.
Taxes do get taken out of my every paycheck (total ~600+), i live in New jersey

1-do i need to file taxes?
2-file tax returns?
3-which ipreferablele, standered deductions or itemized for my case?

If you're a dependent, yes you are required to file a federal tax return. If you aren't a dependent but had anything withheld for federal income tax, then you aren't required to file, but should and you'll get your federal income tax withholding back.

If you aren't a dependent, use std deduction. If you're a dependent you could itemize if you had allowable deductions over $5700 for the year, but that would be VERY unlikely.

"File taxes" and "file tax returns" mean the same thing.

If another person claims you as a dependent, and you made more than $5700, then you need to file.

If another person can claim you as a dependent, but decides not to claim you, and you made more than $5700, then you need to file.

If no one (except you) can claim you as a dependent, and you made under $9350, and it was all from working as an employee (not from investments or from work as an independent contractor), then you probably do not need to file.
